The only way they move Elvis mid season is if we are out of it.

Well yeah that is the move if playing the percentages. If Elvis starts off hot but gets injured and Profar comes up hotter then maybe at break Elvis could get moved. But of course maybe Profar is moved which I hope does not happen. Plan A is the perfect storm scenario. Elvis found his bat but he still makese nervous with routine plays

Profar and Brinson each went 1 for 3 with 2 walks today. Profar's hit was a double.

there just aren't that many teams out there that would be in the playoff picture and that need a SS and would take on that contract

We'd have to take on money for sure.

Weird thing is if he puts up 2.5 wins a season those years will more than pay for themselves...That and I think casual fans like him. It might not be a total loss...he's never gonna be the 4-5 win player we hoped, but if he can play great defense and somehow some way have an OPS of .700 it won't look so bad. Thankfully they signed him a few years ago and the cost of production is going up league wide so it's not as terrible as it could be now.

I always knew he would get a big deal, but just didn't expect it would be Texas that gave it to him....hopefully he picks it up a great deal and then just opts out when he's eligible.

I'm thinking that it would be close to 25-30% of his total contract to even get another team to give us a bucket of batting practice balls. And there aren't many postseason teams that will need a SS

Jamey Newberg brings up an interesting possibility for a right handed hitting 1B this morning.

Since Profar arrived, Brinson has hit safely in each of his five games, driving in runs in four of those and scoring runs in four games as well. Seven hits, four for extra bases.

Teammates today.

Teammates for a long time.

Conceivably with Korean Byung-ho Park, the right-right first baseman who will reportedly be posted Monday by the Nexen Heroes (where he’s teammates with former Rangers Brad Snyder and Ryan Feierabend)? Travis Sawchik (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review) reports that Texas, one of 20 teams that have scouted Park, “have sent top executives” to see the 29-year-old play. Park, in his four full seasons with the Heroes, has hit 31, 37, 52, and 53 home runs, increasing his OPS each year (.954, 1.039, 1.119, 1.150).

Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos turns down extension offer, resigns

October 29, 2015 9:23 am ET

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- In a shocking development, Alex Anthopoulos, a possible American League Executive of the Year, is out as Blue Jays general manager, sources confirm.

Even people inside the Blue Jays organization were stunned at the departure of Anthopoulos, whose bold moves helped the Blue Jays to a spectacular finish and ultimately an ALCS appearance.

Anthopulos won wide praise for boldly acquiring shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, starting pitcher David Price and several more key players during the summer, bolstering a team that underperformed in the first half and leading to Toronto's first division title and playoff appearance since the franchise's 1992-93 World Series championships.

Anthopoulos was offered an extension by new club president Mark Shapiro but decided to resign instead. Anthopoulos was very close to deposed club president Paul Beeston, but details regarding Anthopoulos' decision to step down aren't clear yet. Beeston stayed an extra year this year and according to sources had been hoping to stay beyond this year, but was replaced by Shapiro, who left the Indians, where he also was president.

Anthopoulos and Shapiro didn't discuss his future despite his expiring contract until the end of the season, at Anthopoulos' request, he told the Jays' media earlier this week. The season ended with a defeat in the ALCS to the Royals in six games.

Anthopoulos' exit was first reported by Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.

Sounds like Maddux wanted to explore the marketplace and Rangers did not want to wait. Both pitching coach positions are open. Big news
