I'd personally recommend you do like I do

buy one of those refurb BB Insignia ones with the firmware glitch that allows region free play and never touch it after that (on firmware) (unless reading online confirms a new version that it doesn't break it)

and buy a decent brand (samsung, panasonic, yamaha) that has newer features, and decent firmware support and so forth

all in all, 2 units $200 max or so has you covered playing anything in the world

I like my LG Internet capable blu ray.
Plays everything and I can watch lots of shit from online sources.
Netflix etc.
Also Pandora online sounds great over the Bose lifestyle.
