Steelers were never going to compete this year anyway, and George is on the last year of his rookie deal and will want big money. And he's too much of a headcase for Pittsburgh to pay him that money, so he was gone anyway. A 3rd is disappointing, but also realistic compensation.

Maybe this convinces Aaron to be retired, hopefully.
They always compete. They'll win 10 games again.

I highly doubt they win 10 games this year, with Rudolph as their starting QB, only one strong receiver, and no proven RB1. I’m pretty sure their streak of winning seasons ends this year and they start a rebuild. If the Bengals improve their D and the Browns improve their O, the AFC North will be a really tough division with the Steelers clearly being the weakest team.

Thats not competing. That's the Tomlin Standard. No losing season, and a quick, humiliating exit in the playoffs.

Competing is playing with a legitimate chance to win a Super Bowl. It's been a decade since they competed.

you guys always draft well.
For some reason, the organization's vision is stuck in Steel Curtin and Franco's Army.

IS that Tomlin or an organizational thing??

It's Tomlin, and the coordinators he chooses.

We've wasted a lot of talented teams under Tomlin.

Drafting has gotten a lot better since Colbert retired and Omar Khan and Andy Weidl took over.

They definitely seem to have a WR type (not a good thing). Hopefully Roman Wilson broke that type?

Crazy WR's was a Colbert special.

Pickett and Pickens were the last draft Kevin Colbert did for us.

Pittsburgh has no drafting issues on defense or runningback.

I liked their draft.
This stage is way too bright for Howard IMO.

interesting trade if Rodgers is in saddle.

PGH benefitted. He wasn't getting paid here, and the Steelers aren't winning shit this season. So he was gone anyway after 2025. This way they get compensation to use in the draft next year.

It remains to be seen if he works out for Dallas, but the track record of traded Steeler skill players is long and really bad.
I'd say Dallas benefits too, unless Pickett sucks arse. If he puts up numbers and walks next season Dallas will almost certainly have a nice 2027 comp pick.
