GG ~ when it comes to the van, as long as you have Comprehensive coverage on your auto insurance, you are fine! They will total the van at actual cash value and you should have a check within a week, minus your deductible.

The 'stuff' inside the van that are NOT part of the vehicle to make it operate, your GPS, laptop, etc., those that are damaged are 'personal property' under your homeowner's insurance. It would be completely separate claim from your van so if you have separate homeowners insurance you need to report the van fire to that company, and yes, I'm sorry, that would be two claims from two policies with two deductibles, for one event (the fire).

Go to KellyBlueBook.com and calculate an estimate for yourself, put in all the features and it can help you determine the value.

I'm an agent with your company, I know they will cut your check within a week of inspecting your van and I bet they look at your van asap.

If the van was the only vehicle on the policy, do NOT cancel the policy until you get another vehicle, keep the insurance active so you have 'automatic' coverage on any new vehicle you get to replace the van. Many people cancel if it was a one car policy then hate the shit they hear when I later have to explain why a new policy is so much more expensive. Worst discount to lose on your auto insurance is 'prior coverage'. BTW, with a total loss under Comprehensive coverage is not an accident to the insurance world and your rates shouldn't be affected because of it, or if so, not that much.

it's on your policy ~ "Rental Reimbursement" and if you have Flo's Concierge Service in that area they should arrange it all for you. Good luck and let me know if I can help.

FYI (to wrap the insurance lesson up) if you have Rental Reimbursement on your auto insurance and have a total loss of vehicle under Comprehensive, that is the fastest check they write, sometimes delivered on the spot when they inspect the vehicle so that they don't have you in a rental too long....

most companies have a limited time, if any, that they will pay for a rental AFTER they cut the check for the total loss.
