According to multiple reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers have tendered an offer to restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace, the terms of which have yet to be disclosed.

Under the terms of restricted free agent negotiations, the Steelers have the right to match any offer Wallace receives from other teams, and if he is lost to another team, would receive a compensation pick in return. Such compensation picks over time have been first-round picks– especially in cases with players of Wallace’s caliber.

Wallace has expressed his goal to stay in Pittsburgh in recent weeks using social media and the Internet.

The talented wideout talked about the strong rapport he has built with Ben Roethlisberger and the fact he loves to play for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

If Wallace does indeed return to the Steelers for the 2012 campaign, Pittsburgh could have one of the most dynamic young receiving corps in the NFL. Wallace, along with Antonio Brown, would be a duo which any NFL defensive coordinator will be forced to game-plan against.

This alone should allow new Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley to pull out some of the stops and open things up– a change sure to be welcomed by Steelers faithful.

Let’s just call it hunch that Mike Wallace stays in the Black and Gold.

It’s hard to see him leaving just yet.

unfortunately with the steeler cap situation- probably isnt a bad idea to let wallace go..as hard as that is, 1st- 9 mil is a lot when you have several other team needs, 2nd-we are deepest at WR, 3rd- be nice to have another 1st round pick for the offensive line.4th with the extra money we can also look at other free agents to fill holes
Take the first round pick and sign Antonio Brown to a long term deal. We can NOT afford to lose AB!!!!

it will be interesting to see how this unfolds, who knows other teams maybe thinking they have no chance at him and he will not even be courted by another team,,,,,,think about history most recievers don't do well with a new team
