They interviewed him about it last night, because he had a tie with scripture on it, and he said that while it's a big part of his life he'd never judge his teammates, and that they're brothers on and off the ice. Said that while he's not a drinker, that it's his teammates life and they can live as they'd like to.

I actually like what Shero is doing... Shero has Fleury, proven NHL goaltender. Doesn't need to worry about that position. On defense, Shero has the ability to develop, pick and chose from many higher end prospects (because he stock piles them). Not only can he hand pick his defense, he has 'extra'and uses them in trades. In trades, he can fill immediate needs with established players.. Kunitz/Whitney, Neal/Gogo. Of course he can draft wingers, but that would limit his defensive stockpile, which would impact his ability to pick players and trade for immediate needs. The plan is not what mkes Shero effective, I think it's his ability to stick to his plan. Has a goalie, develop defense, trade for proven wingers to go with talented centers.

Also, pick talent, not what the team needs on draft day.

Smyth to the Oilers for Brule, and a conditional 4th.
its the conditions on that 4th that are just being hammered out now.

This. Our organization is awesome at developing defensemen. If that's the best player available to you, draft him, develop him, and swap him out.

Andrei Paden in the 3rd
Robbie Russo in the 4th


All solid picks for the blueline. They also took an overager from Spokane in the WHL who was in the Red Wings camp after last years draft, but was sent back to Spokane because he broke his finger.

Garth needed to upgrade the defense in the system & he did just that.

He's actually not really francaphone. His dad was a francaphone from Ontario but he can't speak French himself. Just has a French sounding name.
