i like it. I like bundy better than coatsey and watch on TV more than I listen on the radio.

seems like an odd switch though, hard for me to picture coatsey being THE color guy on the radio.

Agreed, it's an odd switch, you would have thought if they were moving Bundy up, that he'd be the color guy with JJ

We didn't have any luck reaching our goal last season which was the sole reason why we didn't win the cup so if you could help us out this season it will be much appreciated. :yahoo::lol:

I'll return just to view your avatar pic.

Any word on the Preds being interested in Vinny? I would think that they would want to get the ball rolling before camp?

I hope the Preds are interested and he gets moved. That would really be a boost to the Flyers to move that contract.

I would like to move Vinny but it would stink if we moved him and last season he had 20 goals and was playing hurt. If we don't move him hope he gets 25G and 35A.

I'd only move Vinny in a legit hockey trade. This stuff about eating half the salary and trading assets just to get someone to take him is stupid IMO. It would be nice to get rid of his contract, but the flyers will miss lecavalier on the ice if they don't replace him. And they will miss the asset they have to move. And they will lament having a 2 mil cap hit for an empty space for 2 years.

Plus, you can't trade two top 6 wingers and not replace them (umberger is not a legit top 6 replacement for hartnell). I don't care if Hartnell and Vinny weren't your favorite players, or if they were legit top 6 guys, the fact is, they played top 6 for the flyers and contributed 40 goals. Those need replaced if you want to be competitive.

And I want to be competitive during the rebuild. There's no reason they can't be.

I agree with this in a hockey sense but from a cap perspective they gotta dump Lacavalier's contract or else they'll have no room to make moves.

the move that would need to be made is to bring in a top 6 forward. by getting rid of vinny (+assets), you lose a top 6 forward to clear the space to trade more assets for a top 6 forward. so assets+assets+top 6 forward for top 6 forward, would essentially be the trade. sure you might get a younger, better contracted, top 6 forward, but the bigger the increase in either of those, the more assets you give up.

just seems kinda silly to me. especially when the end game is to bring better players through the flyers system so that guys on ELCs can contribute to the team.

edit: I say the trade to be made would be to bring in a top 6 winger because trading for / signing a free agent, on defense, is asinine. Surefire way to destroy your cap, or your prospect pool, or both.

Do they need more forwards tho? Didn't they have 8 forwards with 20+ goals last season? I think they need to bring in a dman & trading Lacavalier could potentially do that. IDK tho, I see your point. Maybe they can compete as is. At the same time, if they need to make a move their hands are tied.

I don't think that's the case. Rumors are that it would be something like Lecavalier and a 3rd for a 7th round pick. Which is what I'm saying is dumb.

If they could move lecavalier for a legitimate defensemen (or prospect), I'd call that a hockey trade and be all for it.

And yes, I think as of now, if they were going to improve the team, a top 6 LW is what's needed. The flyers defense isn't great, but they have 6 legitimate NHL dmen, I'm not sure they have 4 legit top 6 wingers. And if they move Vinny, then they're down 2 top 6 wingers from last season. Sliding your bottom 6 wingers up because 'they scored 20 goals last year too' isn't going to have the same effect. part of the reason the bottom 6 wingers had 20 goals is because they played against the weakest defenses the other team had to offer.

on the flyers roster, I'm ok with Voracek, Simmonds, and potentially Read as "top 6 wingers". The rest would be playing above their skill level or out of position, IMO.

Valid points, will be interesting to see what they could get in return. I would for sure go the prospect or draft pick route. I agree, get rid of Lacavalier but try to get something out of it.

Argentine went 300 plus minutes without scoring and 400 plus minutes without giving up a goal before the eventual game winner yesterday. I think we could all assume this sport will not be taking over America anytime soon. Sorry AWAZ but that was a boring tourney.

haha i'll give you the knockout rounds the games were mostly boring. but the group stage was very entertaining.

it'll never take over as America's sport. I'm just looking for it and hockey to join baseball/football as the top. the NLA can suck it. (National Lebron Association)
