The idea of trading down for a CB, S, or LB is appealing as an extra pick would be huge. With so many good WRs I can see a few slipping as far as the third round. If the Lions could walk away from the draft with Dix, Fuller, and say Matthews I could see a lot of holes filled on the roster.

I had seen Gilbert's 40 time s a 4.53?

That would have had to have been a mistake if the guy can run 4.3's. A 4.33 would boost him over Dennard IMO. As scouts seem to be in love with the 40 time as a measure of ability. Still not a top 10 guy though.

For the same reasons I feel the Rams will move out of second spot. The draft order is playing out were teams needs are there just a spot or two off. Somebody will move up for QB or Clowney, as will someone for a CB or S if the Lions are willing to deal. Bears and Rams and possibly Giants vying for their guy in 11-15 range. Picking up extra 2nd or 3rd pick may mean picking another starter!!

Hell somebody will land impact starter in early 4th IMO. Just too deep of draft not to.

Anyone get the feeling that if the Cardinals or Rams were in the NFC North they would win it? That's scary and sad.

I've been saying this for some time now. You won't get a 2nd rd moving from 10 to 15, you could from 10 to 18....

There will still be capable starting WR's early on in the 4th rd...

That would put him right in line with Slay's time last year

Lions have formal interviews with WR's Cooks, Beckham and Ole Miss Donte Moncrief (6' 3" 220)

Lions' search is on for wide receiver in what's shaping up to be a deep NFL draft | Detroit Free Press | freep.com

One way to go about it is say, ‘We’ve got a big receiver in Calvin, let’s get a smaller guy that can run routes and get open, line up in the slot on third down, make plays,’ ” Mayhew said. “And the other way to look at it is, ‘Look at what Chicago did with two big guys.’ So it’s really kind of, it could go either way. It’s kind of what you can get and who you feel good about.”

Evans, the ninth-leading receiver in the NCAA last year with 1,394 yards and 12 touchdowns, measured a shade under 6-foot-5 and 231 pounds on Friday with offensive lineman-length arms, and some think he could run the 40-yard dash in the 4.4s when skill players test on Sunday.

Cooks, who led the NCAA with 1,730 yards on 128 catches last year, also projects as multi-dimensional weapon whose biggest contributions might come in the slot because of his size (5-foot-10, 189 pounds).
Asked about the talent at the receiver position Friday, Cooks, who predicted he’d run “anywhere from a low 4.3 to a mid 4.3,” said a number of rookies should be able to make an immediate impact in the NFL.

FAST FOWLER: Michigan State receiver Bennie Fowler said he expects to run a 4.3 second 40-yard dash when skill position players begin testing Sunday. Fowler said he has been training with Clemson’s Sammy Watkins, the draft’s consensus top receiver prospect, and that the two split their 40-yard dash races.
“I’m going to prove that I’ve got good solid hands and then I’m going to run a 4.3,” Fowler said. “That’s what I plan on doing.”
Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan did 29 reps on the bench press Friday, tied with Notre Dame’s Zack Martin for the 11th most among offensive linemen. North Carolina center Russell Bodine did 42 reps, and Tar Heels tight end Eric Ebron, a potential Lions first-round pick, did 24.

#LIONSDEN@theHOOP Big Board- Your Top Ten

Since were picking at #10, at least one guy from any given top ten list is going to be available for us (how do you likethat math?!).

With that in mind make up your own, personal top ten list of players you'd like to see us draft at #10.

Since QBs dominate the top ten, and we don't need one, it will be interesting to see some of the names people in the last few spots.

Feel free to update your list as often as you'd like leading up to the draft; I'm sure mine will change a ton between now and then.

1.) Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
-Obvoious choice for me at #1. Not much to add to defend this choice, imo.

2.) Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson
-He's got the skill-set to be a dominant #1 WR, so he should be a monster as our #2 guy. Our RBs, TEs, and slot WRs would have acres of free turf over the middle with Johnson and Watkins split out wide on opposite sides.

3.) Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo
-Mack has all the makings of a defensive stud. He'd put a presence in our back seven that we don't currently have.

4.)Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
-Tackle isn't a need one single bit for us, but I'd have a hard time passing on Matthews at #10.

5.) Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
-Same idea as Mack- a play-making, pass rushing force for our back seven.

6.) Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
-Again, OL is not a need, but Robinson would be too hard for me to pass on. Plug him in at LG and trade Rob Sims and we get even better across the front while saving cap space to boot.

7.) Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
-Evans is climbing my board over the last week or so. He's huge and apparently has great ball skills, drawing many a Vincent Jackson comparison.

8.) Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma St
-Gilbert has a shot at being the fastest player in the draft, and is a 6'0"+ CB with good ball skills. Our defense could put him to good use from day one.

9.) Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina
-Ebron looks the part of the next game-changing TE. He'd be a huge asset for us in the passing game.

10.) Darqueze Denard, CB, Michigan St.
-Very physical, balanced CB prospect who would be an immediate starter and huge upgrade to our secondary.

Honorable Mention.) Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota
-We certainly don't need a DT with the #10 pick, but Hageman goes 6'6" and 320 lbs and is projected to run a 4.9 40 at the combine. My thought is if he's that athletic at that size he'd be a great LDE in the mold of Red Bryant with Seattle. With that size/speed combo it stands to reason he could one gap it like our current guys do, or two gap it to free up the LB behind him to attack. Not a name we're hearing about much yet, but I think he'll climb into a top-15 spot when all is said an done...

I wanted Chance Warmack, but since we got somebody so much better than Peterhead, I haven't even noticed we didn't get him. Warford may not be as good as Warmack, but he's much better value.

Looks like you were damn close, but I think it's a case of Warmack may not be as good as Warford, not the other way around.

After year one it looks like Warford was the steal of the draft. All Pro caliber production from a 3rd round pick. Fuck yeah! :yahoo:

Nice list Tpaul, my only changes to that would be Greg Robinson at #3 and Bridgewater at #4. The rest are all in perfect order. Also like Manzella somewhere at the bottom of the top ten too.

You want the Lions to draft Bridgewater or Manziel Rolling?
