Miserable last phase of winter for sure. If we get a quick warm-up (50 - 60*) the Platte and Elkhorn rivers are going to ice jam flood and the snow melt run-off is only going to make matters worse.

gonna be a messy deal when it warms up and all

I been out of werk fer 2 weeks now -- can't put water in a sewer combo truck
so been hangin out at home

it sucks

but the real mess is about ta happin when the thaw happens --- May the Lord have mercy

The frost level in the ground is deep. A buddy of mine had to use a skid-loader jackhammer attachment to get to a water pipe the other day. He said it's frozen two feet down.
All that snow melt is not going to soak in, but will run straight into the creeks and into the ice jammed rivers.

yep-- aaaand my concern is this

we -- Midlands er Johnson Service --- will be in the area of Omaha a lot come this summer

a lot of sewer pipe plugs and breaks will be takin on ground water and what not

I'll be gettin some overtime to make up fer my stayin at home --- watchin old Clint Eastwood movies and all

Maybe some back streets, but the main thoroughfares are fairly clean. They were snow packed for a few days after the blizzard because it was too cold for salt to work on them.

Omaha broke the all-time snowiest February and snowiest Dec, Jan, and February (combined) records. 9th all-time for coldest February. These are records dating back to the 1800's.

Y 'all need to take up ice fishing. Makes the winters a heck of a lot more bearable. I for one am not complaining about this weather. Heck, we didn't even get ice until February.

My problem now is that I live so far from good fishable waters. I plan to drive to the lake early Saturday mornings, then have to cancel because the snow hits Friday night /Saturday morning and makes the highways impossible to navigate safely.

this. our street in our neighborhood is horrible. still completely snowpacked. sides are so tight, some idiots thought it was wise to try and park 2 cars directly across from each other. some guy was complaining on the neighborhood page that he couldn't even squeeze his car between those two idiots.

as R_A said in the earlier post, i literally have very little space to put that snow when it comes. i mean i pile it on top, but man, it sucks having to lift it like 4 feet high to get up there.

my wife complains nonstop about that. there are at least 4 cars that i know of in our neighborhood that haven't even moved since the last big snow fall 8 days ago. just a ton of snow piled around those cars and those are just on the couple of streets i drive. probably a few more on the streets i don't drive in our neighborhood.
