I hope he's right. However, neither players, coaches, expert media analysts, spring ball, or fall practice, can tell us anything about improvement when they are playing themselves.
Only way to truly know is when they start playing opponents. If they're struggling up-front with G5, FCS, and below average P5 opponents (like under Pleeny and Riley) then expect more of the same ass kickings when they play a decent P5 team.

It's like Nebraska football being relegated to BTN, ESPNU, CBSSN, etc. for the past few years. Ranked/Relevant teams get the bigger stages. ABC, ESPN, etc.

You don't see Duke Football playing on ABC or ESPN either.

It only seems that way because after a Duke game ESPN has a Duke circle jerk every day until they play again.
