Damn Illinois just hired former okie state and former SFA Brad Underwood. Nebrasketball could have gotten him J you could even agree on that.

Illinois went and got a really good head coach Oklahoma State won 12 games last year this year there in the NCAA tournament.

Yeah, but my point is they are trying to progress their program. And a guy that took Okie state to the tournament in one year. And he was only making a million at okie state.

Miles took NU to the tournament in 2 years and took CSU there before. He might do well at Illinois but it's far from a sure thing, so saying "WAHHH WHY DIDN'T WE GET HIM?" ignores the reality that hiring coaches that will have sustained success is not as easy as googling the teams on your NCAA tournament bracket to figure out who their coach is.

Ill admit that I have only recently looked him up but his success at SFA, Oklahoma state and now going to a basketball traditional school in the big ten I have a feeling he is going to do very well. Look around the big ten programs are raising their standards. I heard talk of Thad matta getting the boot. Indiana, Illinois, NW. have all improved while Nebraska has had 4 out of 5 losing seasons. Its just the writing on the wall we need to raise our standards and go after a big time coach.

And I think we did look and did not find anyone willing to come here who Eichorst believes is enough of a sure thing to make the move right now. Hiring the wrong coach is a bigger detriment than keeping a coach for a make or break year. If we fired Miles and hired the wrong guy, it sets us back a minimum of 4-5 years. Guys like Underwood are far from a sure thing...his track record looks a lot like Miles circa 2014.

I say all of that as someone who was hoping we'd hire someone new. I just don't think there was anyone available that met the minimum criteria.
