why throw him another fastball? you missed your spot completely across the plate with the first one, throw him something tailing away and you get a pop up to short stop

He's pounding everything into the dirt....dude has his brain all broken.

I've been saying for weeks he's hitting it hard without any lift to it. His bat speed seems to be fine, but yet he's a ground ball out machine.

You're a former pitcher, right? How important is it to get too a good pitcher early - first 2 innings - when he doesn't have his best stuff?

IMO - pitched a little - if you don't get em early, you don't get em at all in a lot of cases.

As usual, pitch count is high...I should be used to this after 2+ years...

I hear ya. Way to loud and clear I hear ya.

But I've gotta give a lot of credit to the A's. They are an amazingly disciplined team with their AB.

Two good ABs so far and Choice and Beltre have them.

You must not have seen Darvish's first couple of starts this year.
Yes, I saw them, and I was so pleased, I thought he had finally solved the "problem". But I'm resigned to the fact that this is who he is...lots of K's, but lots of pitches...

Pitch counts are for rookies and Strasburg.

If the A's don't want to swing, fine.

Its important for any good pitcher, because they surely won't go a full start without finding it. If you can attack his fastball and lay off his offspeed when he can't throw it, then he's gonna lose confidence in everything. He's gonna start trying to get ahead with his slider, and if he already can't throw that for a strike he's gonna get in counts where he has to throw get me over fastballs that can be crushed. Yu's so good though that he can succeed when he doesnt have his best stuff. He'll only go 6 or less today, but he's good enough to keep them to 2 or less when his stuff isnt good

I do agree with ya. Over the last couple of seasons, Yu's pitch count wore me out. But he's been considerably better this year. However, the A's made him work hard and long with his shortest outing of the year so far earlier this season.
