That's my feelz on the subject. Clemson might have seemed like a fresh face to some but they already won a title before.

Every year, about 10-15 teams might have a legit chance at one but it seems to boil down to about half a dozen blue bloods by November
I heard an interesting stat today on XM radio. Info put together by some research geek at the AP while they were releasing their top 25. Said in the last 10 years, 50% of the schools rated #9 or #10 in the pre season poll finished outside the top 25 at the end of the season. And something like 40% of 6-10 finished outside the top 20. I'll see if I can locate the info they discussed.

Almost forgot one other team that's never won a natty that might pull it off if things fall the right way: Utah.

A big part of the reason for this is that the preseason polls never give any respect to G5 teams that are better (even on paper) than many mid-level P5 teams.

If I were picking teams that have gone over 25 years since their last title, the most probable breakthroughs are: Washington and Penn St., with Notre Dame & Pittsburgh as distant darkhorses.

For the 50-, 75-, & 100-year droughts, Stanford could be someone to consider.

For teams that have never won, I would consider Louisville & Oklahoma St. as perhaps the best contenders, with Virginia Tech & South Florida as possibilities.

What about Georgia?

I'll go with Virginia Tech or Oregon.

I didn't forget Georgia; I just don't see a natty in their immediate future. They might get another one before Utah gets one, though.

I would say TCU, although they did win their 1 NC back in '36. Pattterson should have played for the Natty in '10 and in the playoff in '14. He's been close....

TCU's a good choice, Patterson is definitely right at the top of the list of best coaches that hasn't won a championship yet

I don't know if they would have beaten Ohio State in '14, but in 2010 they may have had the nation's best team.

I'm sure he will manage to have another great team soon once Kenny Hill is out of there

Gary Patterson is a really good coach, but Chris Petersen is better.
