This Dortmund-Warsaw game has been a god damn barnburner. From the 10-24 minutes 5 goals were scored and now it's 5-2 Dortmund.

Man, that was some peak MLS'ing last night. Painting the lines of the 18 yard boxes too narrow?!

Also, if your team plays at a stadium that has natural grass as a playing surface there is no circumstance where you should have the ability to move the game to a convention centre with a god-awful turf laid on the concrete surface.

What an all-around joke.

TBH I didn't tune in until after the Leafs-Canes game (I had tuned in at the original start time but left and kinda forgot about it after the delay) by which point it was 3-0 and I was paying more attention to some work I had to finish until TFC started making a game of it later on, but it would hardly be a shock.

I heard a Saputo interview from last night on the radio this morning saying it was embarassing but also blaming the refs because they showed up "late" and didn't perform their check until right before the game, which I thought was an interesting strategy - "We fucked up but it's your fault for not finding out sooner".

Yeah, the field fiasco at Olympic Stadium in Montreal was unfortunate last night, but to pack over 60,000 people into the stadium to watch an MLS playoff game was pretty impressive, in my opinion.

It's give and take - great attendance at the cost of one of the league's most important matches (certainly the most important soccer match ever played in Canada) having the kind of logistical issues men's leagues usually deal with.

I'm going to the return leg next week though, and I'm guessing I'll be bitching about how they should've played the game indoors not too long after taking my seat so maybe I oughtta shut up lol. Of course that could've been avoided by not having the MLS season end in fucking December but :noidea:

The MLS season is way too long, I agree (I think starting in March is fine, but you should be able to crown a champ in late October/early November).

last night, I saw Alexei Lalas flaunting the "over 100,000 people attended 2 SAWKKKER games in North America tonight"

problem is ... that number is also probably how many were watching on tv :noidea:

Well why the hell did they have to wait an entire week between games in the last round and between the last two games of the season? Speed that shit up and this week could've been the final instead of December 10th.

Radio this morning was saying that ESPN ratings might be higher because TFC has 2 of the best American players in their 11. I have my doubts.

What's your feeling locally jstew, have the Whitecaps surpassed the Lions as far as popularity is concerned?
