I actually read last night that he'd been traded to the Caps for Rivero.

I don't think Ibra's given up on winning a CL yet.

I think if he were willing to act as more of a backup/occasional starter he would fit fantastically at one of the Madrid teams (particularly if Atleti let Torres walk). Don't know if he has that in him though.

Keep in mind that Hummels, Sanches and Dembele were all 'heavily linked' with United and they all signed elsewhere, and there are about a dozen+ examples since 2013 of similar failures.

United has become Arsenal since SAF left - linked with everybody, signing nobody anyone else wants for the most part.

I'm thinking less "locked up" and more "increased his buy-out clause". I don't think he makes it to France this summer but if he has a strong season next year the former coach of the Edmonton Oilers is going to cash the hell in on him.
