The only out-and-out strikers on that list are Aduriz, who is 35 (but scored a whack of goals this year) and Morata who only scored 9 goals this season. Left off are Diego Costa who scored 12 goals after Christmas, Borja, who's young and scored 18 playing for lowly Eibar on loan from Atleti, and Paco Alcacer.

Also left Mata off despite him being a rare bright spot on a dreary United team but named 4 different defensive mids. Weird.

I wonder who gets the start in goal. Casillas wasn't awful for Porto but he was pretty much single-handedly responsible for them getting knocked out of the Champions League by gifting goals to Kiev and Chelsea. I don't know why he didn't retire internationally after that shitshow in Brazil.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't clean house on the squad a bit more after their performance in Brazil.
They added some youth but I don't know how many of them will actually play enough of a role to make a difference.

I also have no idea who they plan to start at the back - if they line up Carvajal - Ramos - Bartra - Alba/Azpili in front of Casillas it's going to be open season again no matter who's in midfield.

I don't have a problem with that :D

It's too bad that Spain's group opponents have the firepower of the Tibetan army.

Tournament hasn't even started and I'm already missing the 12 team format.

Portugal might have the highest average age of any team at a major tourney ever.

Ricardo Carvalho, who turned 38 today and yes still plays, is probably going to partner Pepe in the centre of the defence instead of Jose Fonte who isn't a mummy and deserves to start.

Bernardo Silva (who I pegged for a breakout tourney after a pretty good year at Monaco) got hurt in training last week and now Nani is probably going to start too, so congratulations to Belgium/Italy in the third round after knocking off Portugal or whoever they lose to.

Also, what's a Europa League final without a little crowd fracas.

Might need another cheeky finish from Sturridge.

Surely there's a Tony Montana joke just begging to be made...
