Isn't it the same truth for the Lakers?
Are you suggesting the Lakers haven't been tanking the past three years?

Seems to me like both teams went through their own kinds of Process.

Simmons can legitimately be the best player in the league for the next decade if he learns to shoot. He isn't as strong as LeBron was, but he might be quicker. The comparison is a pretty obvious one, but Simmons can be LeBron 2.0.

That all said, there was a possession off a TO where Simmons had the ball 15 feet from the rim without a soul anywhere near him. He never even looked at the rim and waited for a cutter to pass the ball to. Simmons needs to take about 4,000 jump shots a day this off season. Right now, that is the only thing holding him back from true greatness.

And to further the comparisons, the shooting situation is very similar to Lebron when he first came into the league. He didn't have much of an outside or midrange game for a few years, especially from 3. All the criticism from early on was you could just leave him open because he couldn't hit the shot (which also played into him passing up "clutch" shots, etc). But once Lebron got his 3% up around league average to higher, he became unstoppable. It's going to be fun to watch how long it takes Simmons to figure it out (if he does).
