Sharks need a top four Dman and some speed added to the top nine forwards.

Also with Huskins and Wallin coming off the books that will help the team greatly, addition by subtraction.

Plus they need to resign White, I've liked what I saw from him this year.

With what I've said our roster would look like this:

It CANNOT look like that. You need a coaching change or some personnel changes. I'm not changing overhaul it, but it's NOT working. Swept in the second round this year, lost in the first round last year. That is MASSIVE underachieving. It' obvious our "C" was giving the effort- dump the fuckers who aren't.

I actually agree Green is a piece I'd like to keep - he showed more improvement this year (his best D year by a mile). But can you keep him beyond next year anyway with Alzner/Carlson getting new contracts this year and next? Probably not. And Wideman makes him more expendable. So, in that sense, he's tradeable, here are the others...

Semin - 40-goal scorer, but attitude sucks
Green - for cap reasons to keep Alzner/Carlson
Knuble - getting old, taking more dumb penalties, too slow
Poti or Schultz - marginal value, but maybe take a late pick just to dump the salary and help keep other guys

It's about attitude. If you aren't getting a new coach, you gotta get some players with better attitudes - and Semin is target numero uno. I'm fucking sick of him.

I said 4 of those 5 guys...but not all of them are going to get moved. I'd be fine cutting ties with anybody on the 3rd or 4th line except Gordon. What I said is what I think will end up happening, not what I think should happen

ew. gross. no.

only way i'd trade carter for semin (if i'm the flyers) is if semin made around 3 mil a year

flyers need to move some salary (hartnell, carle, and/or carter (richards would be included if i was in charge)) and get a goalie (vokoun please).. then they need to resign powe and nodl, let carcillo walk

then i believe they still need another winger or 2, resigning leino is an option, but i'd rather them look for some size because the bruins mauled them.. looking for erik cole and then i dno

O'donnel probably wont be back, i'm hoping gustaffsson is ready to take his place and i think he will be.. if they move carle they'll need another d-man (i'm thinkin hal gill, again for size)

but what you really need to understand is the flyers are already like 400k away from the cap, if it goes up to 62.2.. so expect the flyers to be very, very active

Caps fans, do you want a new coach or no? Just curious if you're under the whole "easier to change one than 20" ideal.

i know i'm not a caps fan, but my 'fling' and roommate were caps fans this year so i watched most of their games.. and i'm crazy bored sitting around at home, so i'll give my $.02 on the caps here (is it october yet :()

i think bodreau should go.. this team is very very talented and IMO had all the pieces you need to win a cup.. they had the grit, they had the talent, they had a very under-rated d-corp in my opinion and neuvy is a very capable goalie

the problem i saw with the caps, is that even though they tried to focus more on defense this year, it wasn't the entire problem they've been having in the playoffs.. they are way too predictable on offense for the playoffs.. and i actually think a lot of that falls on ovechkin.. when his line is out there, he's the one carrying the puck in, problem with that is he skates down the left side and either pulls up to the middle and fires a shot (normally gets deflected out of play) or he tries to toe drag around the defender and then drive the net from a wider position.. correct me if i'm wrong caps fans, but when the top line is out there that's probably 75% of their entrances to the zone

the other problem they have, which is actually along the same line, is the fact that they shoot on their break-ins so often.. semin does, ov does it, a few of the others do it.. and the goalie either stops it and covers, the d-man deflects it out of play, or the shot goes wide and rattles around the boards and out.. they rarely get a good set up and other teams can counter off that way too well because the 3 caps forwards are going full speed in, then have to turn and chase as the opponent goes on an odd-man rush the other way, hanging their d-men out to dry

so, i do think it's coaching, but its also the mentality that semin/OV play with on offense.. dont get me wrong they are both very talented, and thats the reason they can get away with it because they do score on those shots frequently enough for the caps to roll in the regular season, but come playoff time when you play the same team a handful of times in a row, they are ready for it, and they can defend it

Personally, I love Boudreau as our coach, but I would say yes and for the exact reason you have specified. We've arguably had one of the two best teams in the East for three years now and yet we haven't even made it IN the conference finals, much less beyond that. I don't know if it's Boudreau's fault, but it's certainly easier to change one person than the whole team.

That said, it's not going to happen. Leonsis has deferred to McPhee who seems set on keeping him. They seem to think another year with the "system" will yield different results, but I don't agree. How long did Jersey take to start playing better with a new coach? It's only taken the Bolts a season to adjust and improve. You can't have a team this talented continuing to acheive mediocrity.

Sometimes a good coach is the victim of circumstances. And sometimes just the change can provide a new outlook for the team. I think that's what is needed.

I think that Caps management (ie GMGM) holds Bruce to high regard because he was the guy that brought them up from mediocrity, and made them work to begin with...and that's all nice and dandy, but it's a "what have you done for me lately" league. I mean, my experience with it with the Pens and Theirren, that was the guy that made a faltering team become a contender, brought them back to the playoffs, and GOT THEM TO A FINAL, and he got canned. Sometimes, it's gotta happen. It's amazing how a change like that can affect a team. That said, please, keep him.

Devils:

i'm in all honesty happy in a way. the influx of youth throughout the season and shipping out of dead weight (namely langenbrunner, and the percentages w/ and w/o don't lie) proved to be a big part of the direction this team needed to start heading in.
there is a very good amount of young to prime aged talent up front in guys like kovy, parise, zajac, tedenby, josefson, and palmieri then you still have guys like elias who was a bright spot in a dismal year throughout, let alone the second half.

we could use another center tho, and i hope either that or a puck moving type d is adressed in the offseason, preferably the draft, however they do have a couple high potential d coming up the pipeline in merril and urbom

there is hope, if you take a good look, w suddenly 3 decent goalie prospects as well (wedgewood, clermont and kinkaid), something most people don't know : )

they honestly remind me of the blackhawks a few years ago.

my draft hopes of players that COULD be available.

Larsson, Couturier, Huberdeau, Hamilton, Landeskog

Just make Marty move on and I'm happy. No matter how poor of a season he has, he kills the Pens.

Really? Marty has more wins against the Islanders than any other team. The sooner he hangs them up the better for my team.

He seems to kill divisional opponents in general. I just want him gone. I keep thinking "it's okay, he's getting old, this season he'll be off." No. That never happens.
