To me it looks like the players they have are the same as the ones left on the market. They tried and missed out on a few good FAs but they are content with who is in the building. They didn't see anyone else on the market as a serious upgrade, and there is some truth to that. Tomlin made a few statements recently about the DB's and how he is confident in the group. I know we fans will always doubt that because of the performance from the past few years. I'm fairly certain that we will see a 1st or 2nd round CB this year. Hoping they double dip! They need to shore up that secondary regardless of how good they think the D-line will be.

I get that. Guess I was meaning that I think they will get one in round 1 or 2. I doubt they'll wait this year. But I've been fooled before. This team needs a true #1 CB with the departure of Taylor. Nobody on the roster is up to that task, at least not right now.

the steelers need to build thru the draft... all teams will have down times... i feel Pittsburgh held on to some vets too long

They always build through the draft. And yes, we all know they held onto some of the vets for too long. Bad drafts from 08 & 09 made those matters worse. Recent drafts have been increasingly critical for this team if they want to contend again in the near future.

i think the steelers will be ok.. they need to find playmakers on d and find a solid rb in the draft and hopefully beef up the oline because they have tons of weapons on offense

Not trying to be a contrarian... But they do not need a solid RB in the draft. They have a premier RB in Bell, a solid Vet spot starter in DeAngelo Williams (recently acquired), and developmental type RBs in Harris (Wake Forest) & Archer (WVU). Archer is likely to be without a job after this offseason if he can't carve out his spot as a return man because they have a utility player named Will Johnson that can play either RB or TE. And W-Johnson isn't going anywhere.

O-line... They really only need an OT. The rest of the line is young and entering their primes. Depth is pretty solid but they could use a replacement for Foster (OG) who is a FA next year.

Correct, but they do not need to waste a draft pick for a 2-game spot starter. They have other needs to address long before that. Yes, they could use a solid starter, but they can make do with who they have. D-Will is not going to break the offense for 2 games. He'll get the job done, and thats all we need.

I think they really wanted to keep McCain, but the price was just too high.

FA...I just don't think they felt anybody that was affordable was any better than what they have in house.

Draft...they will break tendency this year and take a CB in the 1st rd if Waynes, Peters, or K. Johnson (possibly (Jalen Collin) is on the board. Why? Because the guys they probably would like to target in the 2nd rd (PJ Williams, Rollins, Byron Jones, Alex Carter) could all be off the board by the 24th pick.

If Bell were going to be out longer...yes, maybe they do draft a RB higher, but Williams and Josh can handle a 2 game load I think.
