Players were saying it was impossible to get the spin you needed to keep the ball on the green when hitting out of the rough yesterday. Greens are just too firm for that. They're ugly to look at on the tv but it's nice to see a course punish people for not hitting fairways off the tee.

I believe Augusta took that option on purpose with the dry weather because rain is moving in and they are looking at softer conditions for at least 2 rounds.

But keep in mind that he could shoot even par the next 2 rounds and still might be in the top 10

When I turned it on yesterday the first thing I noticed was how discolored the greens are. I mean this is Augusta National, I'm not used to things not looking perfect.

Agree with @ill on Patrick Reed, that guy is a cheating asshole. My guy is Speith, so upset I missed him finally winning last week. I'm glad to see Rose come back to the pack, really rooting for a Sunday with a lot of guys all bunched together at the top.

Unlike other sports I don't have a dog in the fight with golf. So I tend to root against guys who are know A-holes and this guy is a confirmed asshole. Bryson with his constant whining is getting annoying to me to so I'll root for the guys who appear to be good guys like Speith.

As for Bryson's strategy to overpower the course I heard the criticisms too. But I also heard them before the US Open where accuracy is at a premium and he was able to play his game and overpower that course. So I don't think his strategy is wrong, he's just not executing the shots.
