Just don't need to overpower it as much as he's trying to. They've been blasting over the trouble that was designed for players that were about 50 yards shorter for a while. I don't see what another 20 yards on top of it would really add to the mix.
It reminds me of that great scene in Bagger Vance and that line ....Exactly. He is trying to drive every green and he is way off and hitting it all over the place which you can not do and expect to win on a course like this. Fairways and greens (yes any course this is the case) but especially here!

Players were saying it was impossible to get the spin you needed to keep the ball on the green when hitting out of the rough yesterday. Greens are just too firm for that. They're ugly to look at on the tv but it's nice to see a course punish people for not hitting fairways off the tee.
