When Tiger was improving last year we told them a Major was coming and a few of them blasted us. Anyone watching him last year could see all he needed to fix was his driver. His short game was almost all the way back.

Well this year's US Open is going to be awesome. Most of the players that were supposed to be contenders ended up in contention. I was most impressed with Schauffele. He really let it all hang out that last round. And if Adam Scott could hit a 10 foot putt this weekend he would have walked away with this. But how many times has that been said over the years? It's like watching Shaq at the free throw line or something.

Most of the players on the champions tour are driving further now than they did in their prime.

Sure.. like 10% longer than they were in their primes which clearly indicates that it's the technology. The fields are much deeper than they were back then, but I'm unconvinced that the elite guys are any better. Distance is nice and necessary, but it's still a target game... the woods are full of guys who hit it 300 yards.

Almost all schools had golf teams and golf as a competitive sport when I was in school in the 60s & 70s. I was on one. But what you think that has to do with golf purses is anyone's guess.
