The main key to winning in Madison

Establishing the running game. We are 21-2 under Bo when rushing for 200+ yards..........we must do this to open up the passing game. We must also do this to match the amount of points that Wisconsin will put on our defense.

Defensively, we need to worry about just not giving up the big play. There is no way in hell we are going to shut Wisconsin down, but we can slow them down, and that is important.

But, #1, and most importantly, if we can put together a running game on offense, we will win the game. We WILL win the game.

I get ya there........but, they won't continue to load the box if we hit a couple of big passes...........at that point we must force them to load the box again.

Really all success on offense always revolves around whether or not you can run the football. Running the football forces teams to load the box, which then opens the passing game. Then you can basically have your way on offense.

Rex will run at them hard enough to get first downs.

Then Beck will have him send a halfback pass into the end zone for a nice TD once they load the box enough times to stall a few drives. I will assume Beck will continue to make adjustments to the offense enough to catch them with their pants down a few times.

Yeah, it's been a long bit since I was more concerned about the defense than the offense going into a game.....:confused2:

Yeah, our line isn't as good as in them days.......love for Nebraska to get back there, but we ain't there yet......ball control and defense is sexy, but we don't have that team right now......If we don't make them defend the entire field, we are going to get creamed.......

But that's my point....the good teams that can stop our run game will beat us.....I think Wisconsin is good enough to do that.....We can't establish a run game unless we can force their defense to play honest....or at least respect the pass......

That's why I say, Martinez will HAVE to hit a couple long passes early or it will be a tough night......

He hits some passes and we run and we can win......

It's easy to say "establish" the run but Wisconsin knows they have to stop that and they will cheat defensively to do that......Martinez HAS to hit some early long passes to have a shot.....

I don't think Martinez has the greatest arm, but I think he can, and I think he MUST hit on a couple play actions early.....

I'd go off tackle run up the gut the on first play, and play action pass deep downfield on the second play.......well, ok, not deep because Taylor can't throw it that far.....midrange downfield.....
