The main key to winning in Madison is to have a larger number of points on the scoreboard than they do.......

GT executed that play for huge gains and points against NC on Sat. One of which the GT WR dropped it, no one was withing 30 yards of him

I know in the glory days we scripted plays early.....

I'd go off tackle run up the gut the on first play, and play action pass deep downfield on the second play.......well, ok, not deep because Taylor can't throw it that far.....midrange downfield.....:D

That was the Callahan days, not the glory days.

Callahan scripted the first 15 plays.

I don't think it's that damn simple...........if it was the damn simple, we wouldn't have coaches and we'd just get a bunch of 5-stars to go running around out there to see how many points they can get

Football is all about strategy, all about being physically dominant..........strategically speaking, 100% of the time you want to establish the running game. Doing so wears down a defense, it controls the clock, and it scores points slowly......in a more punishing fashion.

Wisconsin can go ahead and throw the ball around all they want. If we are able to pound these fuckers on the ground, we will win. That is just how football works.

Don't judge our run defense on the UNLV game. Borland was playing his first game at middle linebacker and Mike Taylor wasn't even playing. After combining for 0 tackles the first game, they have combined for 50 the last three, including a shutdown of a top notch run offense (NIU). If you guys are going to score, it's gonna be by having Martinez scramble and throw the ball, much like Russell Wilson does. Pocket passing and rushing aren't going to work against us.

Has any other team ran the Pistol on you guys yet after UNLV did?

Trying to pick this game by judging the ooc schedule is like betting on a horse race after watching Seabiscuit.

All I can say is whichever of these spotty defenses can do the best job in preparation will probably have the upper hand.

If either one of these qbs get shut down their team is gonna struggle.

I think they should open with a 13 play drive that goes 80 yards, without a pass.

Dive left, dive right, ISO left, ISO right, Option

Makes perfect sense to me Tom , a diverse and well thought out playbook that is sure to keep the opposing defense guessing.

No. You guys can go ahead and claim that the pistol was responsible for UNLV's success. I will claim that it was because our two best defenders weren't playing (or in Borland's case, playing very limited plays). We'll see who is right on Saturday.

I can only hope Bielma is as confident in a landslide as the Wisky faithful are.

A team that good should take the week off and relax, after all they did beat a stellar NIU team.:hail:

The zone-read isn't at all a "line up and run it at ya" offensive scheme. Actually, it's a "line up and make the defense think we're running it at ya left, and instead go right, but maybe hand the ball off to the RB.....or maybe the QB will hold it instead" offensive scheme. It's trickery......to get speed out in the open field.

Wisconsin's Defensive Ends were completely lost against UNLV............it is the End's reponsibility to make the read. We'll see if he/she can do that on Saturday.
