The problem is the BoT for UNC is the same for NCST.

So they can't split until both of them are happy. That means UNC needs to make NCST happy with getting into the Big XII because they won't ever be in the Big Ten and the SEC won't take 3 Carolina teams.

yeah ...fsu,clemson,ncstate and vt to get the big 12 to 14.........(if the b1g/sec stop at 16)........then we wait for nd/pitt or louisville for 15/16

just some guess work based on rumors

UNC is the ultimate prize in this expansion deal.

The Big Ten knows it. The SEC knows it.

The SEC will take Duke if it means getting Carolina.

No, it is all about expanding your foot print so they can negotiate better tv deals. The SEC will aim for VT and UNC/NC State for the North Carolina and Virginia markets.

You're wrong

UNC is a different animal. The Big Ten and the SEC REALLY want them.

Anything realistic they will do.

UNC is arguably the flagship Public University of the southland. It's worth more than a VT/NCST combo.

The more I think about "inner-outer" the less I hate it. Regardless of what NDHoosier and the rest of the Notre Dame faithful think...because frankly they don't matter...I think we should go to 10 games. Still leaves 2 OOC games.

Then we give everyone 1 protected annual rival, and 1 semi-protected(two years on two years off), which can help defray travel costs. Then you have two rotating spots to minimize gaps in play.

(Outer)
Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland

(Inner)
Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State

Protected Rivals
Wisconsin - Michigan State
Nebraska - Ohio State
Penn State - Michigan
Iowa - Illinois
Minnesota - Northwestern
Rutgers - Purdue
Maryland - Indiana

Semi-Protected Rivals
Nebraska - Illinois
Iowa - Indiana
Minnesota - Purdue
Wisconsin - Northwestern
Penn State - Michigan State
Rutgers - Michigan
Maryland - Ohio State

10 games + maybe the CCG

Everyone gets less warmup games, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Get the NCAA to let camp start a week earlier.

I'd rather have 7 teams annually and one frequently than go the pod route, but it's interesting.
