American Fiction (2023)

It was really good but the trailer made it seem like a fast-paced LOL comedy, but it’s more of a slower poignant comedy with a lot of the humor being a bit more subtle.

Nyad.. based on a true story about marathon swimmer Diana Nyad's attempt to swim from Cuba to Key West at 62 years old or roughly 30 years after her failed attempt. Annette Bening as Nyad and Jodi Foster as her best friend and assistant.. both were very good. But it got a bit repetitive (she made 5 attempts) and would have been a lot better if they'd have cut about 1/2 hour of the swimming. 7/10

May December - Another based on the true story of Mary Kay Letourneau, the 34 YO teacher who got sexually involved with a 12 YO 7th grader, was convicted and served several years in prison and then married him after her release. This takes place many years after their marriage. Natalie Portman plays an actress who was to do a movie about them and visits them to research the role. The acting was excellent, especially Julianne Moore as Letourneau and there were a few very raw, compelling scenes but they were surrounded by a lot of arty, annoying filler. 5/10

Roadhouse (2024) remake.

Meh. Lots of good reviews out there about a fun film, but this is nowhere near the original.
It was like they just meshed a bunch of individual scenes into a movie length.
Location & some of the ideas had the potential to be better, but it came up short.

I watched this last night. It was fun for what it was. I really don't remember much about the original.

The original was really just Swayze hamming it up for the camera, some decent “live” music, a cool wrestling cameo, and Kelly Lynch. The story was kinda A-Team-lite

Immaculate

Typical “church people are bad”

Shockingly no racism. I was floored.

Hollywood really hates Jesus or even the symbol of Jesus. You will find this out in the last 10 seconds of the movie. Horrible ending.

That twist was something new I’ve never seen.

I kinda look at Bill and feel sad these days.

Covid honestly cucked him.

Think this was the last of my interest in him tbh. He’s gonna have angry rants, and I’m just not going to care.
lmfao. felt like he was making fun of you too much in the movie? :dhd:

I am not a fan of the horror genre, so take my rating with a grain of salt if you do like the genre. I only watched it because it has exploded at the box office and I have heard good things. But really, it did next to nothing for me. Serious plot holes all over the place, and lots of missed opportunities to really tighten up the story.
It was better than I thought it would be actually. not bad.

Leave the world behind- 9/10
saw it a few weeks ago.
This movie could have been soo much more given the story line.
and I had to laugh at the obvious politically correct portrayal of the two families.
movie was infected with DEI.

Decided to do a Mission Impossible rewatch…

Watched 1 on Friday. Hard to believe this movie is almost 30 years old. Shit I am old. Anyway, I never watch the TV show, so I wasn’t pissed about the twist. Pretty funny how the internet is still melting down about it, though. Anyway, fun, if cheesy movie. 7/10

Watched 2 tonight. Wow, what a hot mess. Hard to believe this didn’t kill the franchise. Horrible Superman stunt after Superman stunt, each more unbelievable than the last. The final face swap was so stupid, I couldn’t help but laugh. And not in a good way. As with all Cruise movies, though, the stunts and practical effects were impressive. 4/10
