The Sons of Katie Elder was on AMC today. I caught it right when it started. I didn't intend on watching a movie in the middle of the day but it is one of those that catches you.

Watched 2 movies over the weekend. First was THE LAST IMMIGRANT. It's about a women and her sister that immigrates to America in 1921 and is taken advantage of by Joaquin Phoenix in a really great performance. Jeremy Renner is also in the film. I'd give it a B-.

The second was THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. Hard one to grade. 2 cancer patients does not make a great film. Shaleen Woodley is almost academy award worthy in this film. At times I couldn't bear to watch it. A real tearjerker. I'll give it a B+. Younger people will enjoy this more than I did.

"We Were Soldiers" for the first time. Don't know how I missed that movie, it was really great, though the ending was bs.

Not a big Kevin Costner fan but 3 days to a kill was damn good.

I saw "How To Train Your Dragon II"..... The first one was great. This one was even better.

Very excellent cartoon.

Side note... Saw it at our local drive in... The digital projector was amazing.

This is the first season that "Hollywood" is not distributing film reels, so many drive-ins were forsed to close. Mine was lucky enough to get some funding to buy the digital projector. The screen was as clear as an indoor theatre, and the sound (through the car speakers) was great.... If you haven't been to a drive-in theater in a while, now is the time to go.

Went to 2 movies over the weekend. First was NIGHT MOVES. Reviews were A-. I gave it a C+. Jess Eisenberg from Social Network was the star. It's about 3 people that are environmentalists that plot to blow up a dam. Actually a rather drab movie. Don't recommend.

Also saw EDGE OF TOMORROW. Really good action, very entertaining, clever plot. I'd recommend it and give it a B+

R.I.P.D. It wasn't awful like I was expecting it to be but definitely glad I didn't see it in theaters.

Non Stop

I watch Non Stop with Liam Neison over the weekend and liked it. Lots of suspense with a few twist along the way. Almost the entire movie was onboard an airliner, so there were no special graphics. I'm glad I waited on the Blue Ray.

I got through one hour of The Wolf of Wall Street and had to dash out last night. I had no idea the movie was as long as it is. So far it's been a lot of fun. Can't wait to get back to it.

How one little lie can manifest and destroy another man's life. A very powerful film with great performances particularly from Mads Mikkelsen. Can be a tad frustrating and emotionally draining to get through, but it's a really well done film depicting our society's fear and paranoia and often times the incompetence of the authorities that we look to when we are seeking justice

The Hunt - 9/10
