I guess our last real movie was All Quiet on the Western Front, too. Like the real war, it could have been much shorter and had the same effect. Before that, the new Top Gun in a real theater, but an old one.

These days, we’re watching wildlife documentaries. Awesome photography. I wonder if the ones about African refuges aren’t showing how much we’re intruding into the animals’ lives by trying to help them.

The baby animals movies were must-watch TV for our cats. They just sat there and watched. Haven’t seen that kind of attention since the Kitten Bowl.

Red Rocket. It's an indi flick and only 2 of the cast members are actually actors, including the lead who plays a narcissistic, washed-up pron star who shows up at his estranged wife and her mom's rundown Texas home looking for a place to crash and opportunities for a different way to make a buck, mostly by screwing with the minds and lives of everyone he comes in contact with.

He's a real POS, but it's a fantastic performance... really great dialogue and performances by all. I ran into it flipping around and couldn't turn away. It is definitely not for everyone though.

I finally watched The Natural. Outside of a few short scenes, I thought it was pretty middling without much of a plot or point.

Run Sweetheart Run. I was expecting it to be bad but by heavens it was worse than I expected. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I'm a huge Ryan Reynolds fan. Seen almost everything he's done. Even as a fan, I'm not sure there had ever been a worse movie than RIPD.

For some reason Netflix decided RIPD deserved a sequel. Without Reynolds. Or any other redeeming factors.

It showed up in my recommended list, and for some reason I decided to watch it. I dug up and bumped this thread just to try protecting others from making the same mistake. Far far worse movie than the original or anything else I've ever seen. Truly a rotten movie.

i watched it last night... and although i agree that it was awful... and even terribly acted( i loved burn notice, so i was willing to give this a chance)...

but on the positive side, it was a QUICK, mindless watch.... so it wasnt THAT bad...

I tried to watch The Great Escape again last night on a flight, but the system went down just as it was getting to the meat of it. My parents took us to the drive-in to see it when it came out and I'm sure I've seen it at least once since then.

Great cast but it was a very much of its time (1963) in style & tone. While it was a drama, I'd forgotten how Hogan's Hero-ish the POWs acted towards their German captors and how little pushback they received for it... so it's kinda silly in parts tbh.

But I'm going to have to find it somewhere to finish it because the escape & aftermath were pretty great as I recall.... McQueen's motorcycle ride also.

Was forced to watch ****ing Casablanca again this afternoon. Still not a fan.
Watched Knives Out at the weekend. That was entertaining.
Before that I saw Local Hero again. It's a nice 1980's small budget British film. Inoffensive family film that's worth a watch.

Was in bed sick two days ago. So I watched 1917, which was great. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, which was shitty, and The Disaster Artist, which was a lot more interesting than I expected.

Bullet Train. I won't derail you all with the details but it was better than I expected. Solid 7, on track to 8 town.

The first was a classic.

the 2nd and 3rd are not. Set your expectations accordingly.
Agree about the 2nd, that one wasn't that good at all. Never saw the third one as it didn't really look good either.

Agree with that. I didn't know what to expect going in and was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.

I did not enjoy the 3rd at all. But others did, so it may be more of a “me” thing on that one.

Watching Princess Bride right now. I haven’t seen it in maybe 15 years.

Better than I remember. Every scene is putting a smile on my face.

An easy 10/10. One of the greatest movies ever made.
