I don't buy what Kylo said about Rey being "nothing", I would guess she has an interesting backstory that will be developed.

I just re-watched the the Last Jedi. There were some real bad parts (like the WTF is the casino segment in this movie for? and Princess Leia's magic carpet ride) but a lot of it was still good. I like the dynamic between Rey and Kylo. Best part of the movie. For once a Jedi with some intensity and fire without some vague fear of "succumbing" to the dark side. What a dead end that was. Great light sabre battle at the end.

Oh Yeah, I also saw Mission Impossible Fallout... it is good. I feel that I would have to watch the last one again to truly be able to compare the stories and ensure it all fits properly, but for what it was it was good. 8.5/10

Yep. That movie was worth the money, with the some of the outdoor scenes just jaw dropping. I'm going to have to see the earlier ones.

Black KkKlansman: 3/5 stars. Pretty entertaining at times. I fucking hate Spike Lee's "dolly shot" shit. He used it in Inside Man, Malcolm X (2/5 stars), and again in this movie. So fucking annoying.

Saw Batman Begins for the first time in thirteen years.

Its a really good story about masculinity and growing up. It takes its time with the world building and the Dark Knight really is able to take advantage of all of the heavy lifting that this movie does in terms of character development and the painstakingly longwinded script that makes a very cartoony plot very believable.

The acting is impeccable to the point where Kate Holmes really sticks out as if only to provoke ideas of sexuality.

When Wayne comes back to gotham the movie gives off a really good Crow vibe all within the context of a well acted Nolan movie.

The shaky cam sequences are a bit of a blemish but there seems like there is a level of care with this movie that just doesn't exist with the Dark Knight Rises. Batman Begins shows the journey, overcoming fear and showing some hope. The Dark Knight is dealing with the realities of humanity and the fight for good and evil. The Dark Knight Rises seems like it should have been a movie about being a mentor to Robin or something like Batman Beyond so its just not on the level of the other two.

Solid A. In the top tier of superhero films and probably the best 'origins' film.

Its a bit of an oversimplification but Martha Wayne is basically an extra. The relationship that drives Nolan's Batman is his relationship with his dad, the actions of his dad, living in the shadow of his dad, and the ideals of his dad. His butler is a father figure and in on his secret, his co-worker is a father figure and in on his secret, his antagonist is a (bad) father figure and in on his secret.

He then proves his worth to the first girl he ever cared about showing that despite being a man of privilege that he is still putting in the work.

Its a very conventional, old-school hollywood flick.

Bruce Wayne finally has a lot to lose which sets up the second film perfectly.

Oh, one more point about MI Fallout is that Lalo Schifrin's score is sublime.

I somewhat agree. Ledger’s performance was so amazing, the rest of the movie pales in comparison. It was also building on the solid foundation established by Batman Begins.

At the end of the day, Dark Knight is better, but I understand someone saying BB is better.

This is generally my opinion, too.

I think the Dark Knight is more complex. BB is a very simple tale that ends with a fairly simple world view. The Dark Knight is the bump in the road when you think you have everything figured out. There is also basically a two movie buildup to the scene with the boats in the water. Gotham is worth saving. You don't get the truth in the first movie. It doesn't come until the end of the second movie.

Darkest Hour: 3/5 stars. Enjoyable enough throughout, but at the film’s conclusion I couldn’t help but think “So what?” I get that they wanted to focus on a very specific part of Churchill’s reign, but it ended up feeling a bit small.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri: 4.5/5 stars. This is one of the best movies of the last 10 years. Sam Rockwell and Frances McDormand gave the performances of their lives. It was a movie about anger and hatred and hurt. We would all be wise to contemplate about the movie.

Saw Constantine for the first time in over a decade.

This is honestly one of the worst scripts I've ever seen. I feel like someone could've written this as they went along just by taping together bits from every other movie of this genre. That said, the casting in this movie is fairly noteworthy for how many chances it took. Its as if the overall idea of the movie was to cast a bunch of models and then shoot the movie in the most uncomfortable angles possibles. Rachel Weisz in particular is a model who can actually act and she has to do the heavy lifting by being a scientific detective/love interest/mcguffin/twin sister/religious beacon/sidekick. Shia Labouff gets cast as himself and gets just as much screen time as one would hope. Keaunu Reeves is just badass enough to pull his character off without actually needing to do any acting throughout the movie.

The overall opinion of the movie comes down to how much you like the final act, I'd imagine. Slo mo time effects, pacts with the devil, keanu getting redemption, giving satan the middle finger. Its all a cheesy kind of fun.

That’s awesome and all. But just like Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, an important historical moment doesn’t necessarily translate into good cinema.
