I drafted Big Dick Pineiro as my kicker in fantasy.

Cody Parkey did not get drafted, for the record.

Pineiro is not better. He could easily be worse. What a freaking disaster.

Glad he missed. Now Nagy has no choice but to find one.

Update on the "Cody Parkey will never have a kicking job in the NFL again" front.

Cody Parkey got beat out for a kicking job with the Jets a few weeks ago, which are being coached by one of his old coaches - Gase. The guy that beat him out, Vedvik, was cut after one game, because he lost them the game. So the Jets just went and signed another kicker.

Not Parkey.

NEVER Parkey.

I don't know what it is with big-time young place kicker prospects, but from Vedvik to Roberto Aguayo. It seems like these guys NEVER pan out. I really don't understand it. I remember reading an article last year about how kickers that get drafted have been less likely to succeed than those who sign on as undrafted free agents. Vedvik wasn't drafted, but he sure was as coveted as any available kicker over the past couple years.

It's sort of inexplicable. Perhaps these guys mastered kicking from the wider hashes and have trouble adjusting back? But... logically that should only make life easier. It's puzzling.

Update on Cody Parkey.

Still not in the NFL.

His replacement is perfect and kicking game winning 53 yarders.

Will continue never having a kicking job in the NFL.

Eddie was as clutch as clutch can be today. Yes, the air is a bit thinner in Denver so the kicks can go farther, but you still have to work that ball between the goal posts. His 52 was important because it showed he can drill the long ones. Then of course that 53 yarder with no time left on the clock. Good fucking grief that was money.

People forget that Robbie Gould was a nobody we brought in for a tryout and he won a kicking battle. He turned out to be perhaps our best kicker of all time. Pineiro is sure showing himself well early on, so there's no reason not to expect (yet) he can't be our kicker for a long time, and a pretty darn good one at that.

We'll give you Adam Vinatieri for your kicker. Heck, for your 3rd string waterboy.

In other news kicker Kaare Vedvik of the Ravens went 3/3 today:

26 yards
45 yards
55 yards

This guy is clearly better than both Fry or Piniero.

Both Fry and Piniero just seems so inconsistent to me. We cheer when they make their kick after holding our breaths. I don't feel comfortable with either at all.

At this point i'm so sick of this, i would give up a 5th and a 6th to get Vedvik and not worry about this any more. Pace screwed up here, he should have traded for Vedvik earlier instead of Piniero.

Pineiro is not better. He could easily be worse. What a freaking disaster.

I will continue to pull for Piniero who I believe has the higher ceiling. However, Fry's leg does seem to be getting stronger. I know he had the distance on the 60 yarder he missed wide right, while Piniero made it.

Piniero just seems like he was ready to become a reliable NFL kicker a year ago after a big college career and strong camp/pre-season. This competition has to have only made him better.

I mean, overall, the way we've approached this. It's making both guys better, it seems. This is good. I have a good feeling that whoever wins this becomes the Gould replacement we've been waiting on for 3 years.

Vedvik has been cut by two teams since his trade and is unemployed. Piniero is 4 for 4 with two 50+ yarders. One being a game winning 53 yarder. He is also perfect on PAT's. It's early, but so far... this thread is not aging well for the ole genius. Not the stance taken against Piniero. Not the repeated pledges of allegiance to Vedvik.
