I am going to try to turn every fucking one of those debates in to a Daniel vs Henrik thread.

Someone should create the OV vs Sid thread right now, and only have that one on the board, if you have something to say about that topic, just go to the running thread rather than creating new ones. Or better yet, create a best player thread so the sedins, stamkos, malkin, etc can also be represented.

Like to add that the severe lack of dickhead-type Pens fans on this board make Crosby's success infinitely more palatable to us Ovechkin fans. I used to feel pushed into rooting against him. Now I can just enjoy watching him play. The guy is amazing.

For me it was kind of the opposite most of the time. I was never necessarily a Pens fan but it was all the anti-Pens and anti-Crosby douchebags (by absolutely no means limited to Ovechkin fans) on that board that made it hard for me not to cheer for Crosby and the Pens. Maddog was irrelevant to me, so his comments couldn't really affect my opinion. But I could definitely see how it could go the other way as well. There were 2 seperate groups of annoying fans. Each likely responsible for the ongoing growth of the other. It was like 2 monsters that created each other, kinda like "The Chicken and the Egg" debate. Which came first, the obnoxious Crosby homer or the obnoxious Crosby basher?

It wasn't so much the debate about the 2 that caused trouble over there...it was the 2 nimrods that hijacked every thread with the same mind numbing bullshit....

Although "to be fair" this was exactly what 1 of those nimrods was trying to do which was painfully obvious to just about everyone who has moved to this board. Meanwhile the other nimrod just couldn't stay away and somehow never managed to clue in that he was playing right into the other guys hand, yet all along he thought he was outwitting the other guy, ironically enough.

Yeah, Jimmy pretty much hit it on the head. It got tiresome trying to explain that I am a smashmouth hockey fan, therefore THAT is why I'd have OV if I had to pick one to build a team around.

Ya know, you can like one more than the other without saying the other is worthless trash. My only beef with Cros was the immaturity. That seems to be gone now. I respect what both can do.

Well, I think the topics are lame as all hell, but the onus will just be on me to not click on these types of threads. Look, no disrespect to Crosby and OV, they are both excellent players who I would LOVE to have on the Sharks anyday. But these two are not even CLOSE to Gretzky and Lemieux. Hell, the guys don't even lead the league in points, goals or assists every year. They just happen to be the best two players right now. They are the head with a lot of other good players being the shoulders. With Gretzky and Lemieux, they were the upper body and the rest of the good players were the lower body.

Bottom line, I couldn't care less if Crosby sleeps in his owners basement the rest of his life and I couldn't care less if Ovechkin wears Ed Hardy/Affliction while downing Jager Bombs and banging Russian Models. At least talk about their strengths and weaknesses as hockey players. If it makes you guys feel better, I couldn't care less about Brett Favre's penis being sent via text to a player chaser either.

Just my humble opinion. That said, I've often found that my opinion is not of the popular variety. So take this post with a grain of salt.

OV has led the league in goals the past 3 years now, and was in the top 5 the 2 years before that.

Also top 3 in total points the past 3 years as well.
