How ready are Foscue, Crim, Duran, Ornelas, Thompson and Taveras? Even Josh Smith..

Counting Jung, that’s 8 spots.. out of 12

Add in Jonah, Huff, Seager and Semien we are at 12.

How do we get all the guys on the team?
Who goes, who stays? Who gets traded? Who never gets called up?

Can’t wrap my head around how all this is going to work?
What does the active roster look like in August of 2023?

Sticking with the position player side.

C-Jonah
1B-Huff
2B-Semien
3B-Jung
SS-Seager
LF-Crim
CF-Taveras
RF-Duran
DH-Foscue

Bench
Thompson, Ornelas, Josh Smith

Just let the rest go and/or trade them?

Shouldn’t we go ahead and get this started so these guys can acclimate during a supposedly lost season?

?

Curious how you guys on the board think it’s going to play out.

I’m excited about what the farm has. Even when we had a highly ranked farm I didn’t come across very many former AA Ranger teams that had so much talent in their line up, that coupled with a few standouts in AAA and even some guys at A ball I didn’t mention..
It’s looking promising

Good for him. Still don’t want him back.
I guess the thought is are our prospects like y to be better than him when they get here or is there someone else we could sign or trade for who’ is

The current OF bunch has no one better
The stats don’t lie
No I am glad we traded him and I am glad for a otht year of OF development without him

But if the money was right then maybe depending upon how our yiung guys do

Never say never

When they can play very well at AAA for an extended period then i would say they are ready. I don't mean all year at AAA necessarily, but they need to play very well there for a lot longer than a month or so. Same for moving from Hickory to Frisco and from Frisco to Round Rock. Hopefully that corresponds with possible trades in late July.

That would make sense, I do wonder sometimes if AAA is easier than AA?
Definitely agree with extended success and not small sample sizes.

What are your thoughts on that ?

No, from following guys up through the organization for a lot of years it seems each higher level is substantially harder. That's the way it appears to me.

From today's Baseball America Prospect Report.

Ezequiel Duran, 2B, Rangers: Duran had the best day of his young career. He went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two home runs, a walk and a sacrifice fly for Double-A Frisco. Duran has had a number of four-hit days before Sunday and has hit for the cycle before. But he’d never had a day with 12 total bases.

Nice to get the attention. He might be the best of the bunch

We really need highly athletic guys with high skill sets. Leiody looks to be athletic but it proving his skills. Crim and Harris and Foscue all good hitters but are they athletic enough. Yes 1B and DH do not require much athleticism

This freakish athleticism is why I am slow to write off a guy like Adolis and to some degree Gallo. Of course we should not give away the pony shed for them but if we have room for patience then let’s be patient. We might get another Josh Hamiltion

I would be venture to say it is all in the head with Gallo. He comes across way to worried about what people think and wanting to be accepted

If the right person worked with him and for his head straight he would improve drastically and could be scary good. Sure that is a big if.
But the book is not yet closed IMO

There will most likely never be another Josh Hamilton.

Your point? Do you consider Gallo a 100% list cause. I think not

I think those people are his various hitting coaches and managers. He has listened to too many voices. One of those he should have ignored is Woody's.

To each their own. I am not saying most likely on Gallo. But it is a mistake to write him off 100%
Would not resign him based upon a wish obviously. Always good to keep options open

Perhaps I am the only one on board who has not nailed the door shut on him. We shall see. Regardless something needs to change with him

I for one do not think it impossible

my two cents here:

Gallo is a talented player, yes. He could end up having a decent career. But he's not a "freakish athlete" like Hamilton. Neither is El Bombi. Hamilton was a unicorn. He's one of those guys that would get called up if there was a league above MLB, and people knew that about him when he was in high school. That was saddles point, if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think anyone is writing Gallo off, at least I'm not. I just don't want him to be the cornerstone of the Rangers while we sit and wait to see if he can improve his game the way it needs to. But at no point has he ever been a "generational" talent like Josh was.

My comment had absolutely nothing to do with Gallo.

it comes down, in Gallo's case, to him refusing to listen to anyone else's advice. how many hitting coaches has he had over the years and he hasn't changed his attitude when he's at the plate: pound the ball into the shift and go after every pitch like he's going to hit 500 feet.
