W Calhoun has had a lot of hard hit balls.
He deserves a shot. Not saying he needs to be coddled Rather lose Kole and Holland sooner than him

He did exactly what a LH Ph needed to do. But some of you guys can keep him on your dirty list
No sweat to me

Sorry just a sour taste right now
I agree. I would put Miller in right. Let Solak and Willie alternate in left.

I think so too let them battle it out and maybe both are gone after the season or sooner depending on the farm. But I would give sometime to a other guy like White or maybe Leody at some point if he is ready to start

Without pitching it is tough to compete anyways

I agree, would rather give Willie a final shot than Kole one at all

1). Everybody makes errors nobody is perfect
2). Lineups nowadays are built around guys who can hit bombs, defense is considered to be less important
3). Most utility players are usually better defenders than the starters

Funny yet our bench/marginal players Culbertson Solak both Calhkuoane Ibanez. None are known for defense. Only White who missed the cutoff a couple days ago

I think the makeup of the bench depends on how strong your starters are. If you have to platoon a couple of guys then you need a bench that can hit. If you have a strong starting nine with no platoons necessary then you can have a more defense oriented bench. Twenty years ago, when our offense wasn't strong enough, Frank Catalanotto was needed on the bench. Ten years ago or so, when our offense was great, Endy Chavez was needed on the bench.

Quick report from the game:

hell of a slog to get through. guys kept getting on while Taylor was on the mound. felt like it should have been 5-0 instead of 1-0.

when El Bombi gave us the lead, the mood changed. really felt like we were gonna pull that one out. then Culberson boffed that play and that took us out of it.

had to leave at the middle of the 7th but had the game on the radio. Willie's HR felt like another game changer. but we all know how the game ended up. lots of big hits and big mistakes. a rollercoaster of a game, and one of the slowest ones I've seen live.

irritated that Miller wasn't starting, and that Culberson was. Miller/Semien/Seager/Garver need to be 1-4. Ibanez needs to be at 3B for defense. I know he boffed the play in CF and fucked up that slide, but El Bombi had a great day at the plate yesterday.

as for the stadium: they've made some minor improvements. better experience this time around. get the brisket mac-n-cheese if you eat at the stadium. roof was open and it was hot in the sun.

I really wish they would close the roof when game time temperatures are close to 85 or above.

My gut tells me that they want the roof open on Opening Day unless absolutely necessary. I get it. It does feel right to play OD in the sun. But beyond that, close it up.

I went to a Saturday afternoon game last year and they left it open. If I remember correctly it was in the mid 80s that day.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the actual policy is. I agree with you that if it gets past 85, it should be closed (except for Opening Day, unless it's in the 90's).

Ha I had to ramp up in old BPIA in those summer months. Heat training
Had a package and wife could not endure heat. At least had shaded seats

Yes opening day should be open air. Remember going out Elvis first year and it was really cool except in the sunny spot I had

Glad you got to keep your streak alive. mine ended a few years ago. Retired it like Cal.

I think the year we trounced Cliff Lee on Opening Day that it was in the 40s. That was a very cold day to watch a game.

I remember one where it was 52. With the windchill, that's probably the one you're referring to. Probably the coldest game I've been to.

Gonna keep it going as long as I can.

I forgot to mention: the "no tailgating" policy was not being enforced. Case in point:
