That video is painful to watch. I actually like Chris Carter's commentary... usually. On this video he really talks like a fucking moron. How about just being a man instead needing a fall guy. Just one note, you sure this is the right video for your title?

I didn't even watch the video til you mentioned it. This isn't my site. I just agreed with the author's comments. This is a site I've followed for a while.

Hard to disagree with lots of premises to the article though, no doubt about it. I've watched as much pro and college football as anyone and believe me I've seen more of my share of extremely fishy shit.

If you pay attention, I mean really pay attention to pro sports there has been more than there fair share of troubles with umpires, referees and player point shaving just to name some of the stuff that goes on. If someone is so naïve not to think there isn't illegal fixing going on from time to time then they're just ignorant. Where there is smoke there is fire and where ever there's a lot of financial interest there is corruption. Let's be honest, for every player or official who gets caught fixing or cheating how many do you think get away with it. It reminds me of a college game with Wisconsin a handful of years ago where Vegas was going to lose a bunch of money and a power station conveniently gets hit and kills the power and the game gets taken down when Wisconsin was trouncing and covering the point spread. Do any of you remember that?

Ok, so the point here is to lay the ground work for an excuse as to why your team lost?

what? the OP is a Bengals fan and I'm a Packers fan. You serious? I'm fairly certain he is only agreeing to the claim that a lot of very unusual and hard to explain fishy shit goes on in the world of sports and at times some of questions integrity and honesty, at least that is the way I interpreted it.

Disgraced ref Tim Donaghy throws support behind Adam Silver just one very small example. I suggest you google point shaving and see what comes up. There have been a lot of players who have been convicted. How many do you think never get caught, how about Pete Rose. The list is endless if you really want to search.

Do you understand what it means when someone says "lay the ground work"? In other worlds you set up your excuse before you actually need it. It's a chess piece.

And it sounds like what people are doing. It was not directed at anyone on this thread but those who are perpetuating this scheme.

It's no coincidence that every single year in the playoffs there is a "controversial" call/non-call/penalty/phantom penalty that directly changes the outcome of the game.

Yes very bizarre that in 11 games full of 130+ plays that something crazy happens or a ref makes a bad call. That is 1430 plays that people expect to all just be normal plays.

Love the conspiracy theorists. There are 1000s of people involved in the great conspiracy that is the NFL and they are all keeping their mouth shut. Even those who were once rich and are now broke from the NFL have decided not to write a book and expose things. And the NFL who is so reliant on their referees fixing games allowed them to go on strike a few years ago.

Just think about it. The Bengals used to get almost every bad call it seemed like. Like the league didn't want the crappy Bengals to upset one of their golden ponies. So most of the bad calls would go against the Bengals. The Bengals got a better rep, they started winning football games and now the tides have turned. I personally think we get more calls than a lot of the teams we play against that are questionable calls.

It is all about protecting the top dogs. While I don't think the games are fixed, I believe the under dogs have to work that much harder to beat their opponent plus the refs. Watch and notice how many bad calls we get on prime time games though. We have earned a reputation as a terrible "under the lights" team, so we don't get those same sunday afternoon calls on National primetime games.

You have to work that much harder to overcome if you are not a good team right now. Usually if it is two crappy teams or two really good teams, typically the game is called pretty equally.

The Bengals already have built in excuses why they don't/won't win.

Well, they need to do a better job getting personnel in and out of the game and getting the right play called in sooner.

Tired of taking all 3 time outs before the end of the 1st quarter or 3rd quarter.

Manning wasted all of his first half timeouts early, but when he does it, its smart.

It is only ever smart after the fact. If you didn't need your timeouts at the end of a half, taking them early is smart to get yourself into the right play or work on a crucial down.

However, if you have the ball in the last two minutes, no timeouts and you have to drive the field to tie a football game, you are a freaking idiot.

The matter is subjective depending on the need towards the end of a half. However, I think we burned through all 3 timeouts in the first quarter last week, or maybe that was the 3rd quarter. hell I do not remember, but I remember all 3 being gone very early. So early we got a delay of game or illegal substitution call against us because we couldn't call a time out.

That was 6 times outs and 1 penalty because we couldn't do the most basic function of football, get in and out of a huddle with 11 men and get lined up.
