Wondering if Philly will implode. Chip continues to get rid of high quality players without getting anything in return. And in this case you had a pro bowl guard on a line that has to protect a fragile QB. From the outside looking in it seems that he continues to operate as if he is still coaching in college rather than coaching men, some of whom make more than he does. Couple that with his hyper paced offense that is also a drain on the defense due to time of possession which seems to wear his players out for the last quarter of the season and you can envision a viscous circle developing.

Evan Mathis was close to 99 percentile in all the combine drills his draft year, went to be a journeyman who never got a shot to start until he got to the Eagles, and then flourished because of his athleticism. Allen Barbre was close to 99 percentile in all the combine drills his draft year and has been a journeyman up until this point. He could very well grade out really high with PFF this year in the Eagle's power run system ala Mathis.

The team has been high on undrafted Tobin, he struggled at T, but could be just fine next to a young, elite in the making Lane Johnson. Combine that with the best LT in the NFL, Jason Peters and a top 5 C Kelce and the Eagle's line should be of the top 6 or 7 with potential to be top 2 or 3, with good health of course.

The Bucs hate having dominant OL so you can probably take them out of the discussion.

Generally speaking...lol...they like over paying for OGs though...Grubbs, FA...Mankins via trade...why not this guy?

Jets, Titans, Bills and Bucs should be all in on this guy.

Add the Vikings to that list too. I was shocked that Spielman didn't address the OG situation definitively this offseason. He's the type of GM that in most years literally goes down a list of biggest needs and always answers every one in one way or the other either via FA or the draft. This year OG was a glaring omission. They have Clemmings working at the position now but he really doesn't profile as a guard at all (he is a finesse OT...not a mauling RG).

D grade for sure.

Mathis is unquestionably one of the best guards in the league. He's 34 but he was one of the best guards in 2014 after he came off his injury. McCoy was noticeably better rushing the ball the 2nd half of the season. He averaged 4.43 yards per carry when Mathis was playing and a paltry 3.97 when Mathis was out weeks 2-8.

The Eagles could've found ways to deal him (which would've been pretty bad as well, but at least gotten SOMETHING in return) or just forced him to play like every player that age is going to do (they're not going to hold out a season because nobody is going to offer them anywhere close to his current contract after he skips one).

Chip's my way or the highway approach doesn't work in the NFL. It didn't work for Mike Singletary and it sure as hell wont work for Kelly. He'll be back coaching college in no time.

The Eagles don't have an immediate need for cap space, he wasn't a huge distraction, and no team really needs a roster spot. for their 91st choice player. No upside to this move and it smacks of impatience.
