ccg and bowl?

Thought we pretty much cleared up we were talking regular season.

There is no guarantee Nebraska makes the CCG, and even if they did they could easily get blown out by Ohio St. A bowl game could also be a blow out.

We're just speaking of known opponents here.

:L yeah, I was thinking we originally looked at the last 5 games as the meat of the schedule and a blow out in there was a definite.

I get too many trains of thought going sometimes and just end up sounding stupid.

Doesn't feel like there are only 3 weeks left of regular season games anyway.

I agree, fact of the matter is I doubt we make the ccg, hisl just was lost in his train of thought.

I guess the part I disagree on is the bad but not terrible when you put it that way or as you put it originally "capable of blowing out anyone".

Our defense was terrible up front. Anyone could run it down our throat and there was not a damn thing we could do about it.

Two weeks ago no body thought we would be able to finish the schedule without another blow out. After yesterday's game that has changed. These last five games while still likely to be nail biters are doubtful to be blow outs.

So I guess my point is you can only make your statement now because our defense is no longer bad with a propensity towards terrible.

Well, actually I have been saying that since the Minnesota game. So I started saying this before our D turned this corner. Yeah the DL was playing terrible. But that bad but not terrible comment was the team as a whole. Our D played terrible against Minnesota but we were still in that game with our O. Our O struggled against NW but we stayed in that game because of our D. I just believe that as a whole, the last 5 teams we play in the regular season including Nebraska have the potential to be good but not great and bad but not terrible. Now of course we could breakdown individual players or positions. I mean look at Michigan's OL, TERRIBLE. Michigan St's DL (or total D for that matter), GREAT!!!!! But as a whole team, all kind of mediocre.

I agree here. I think it's a bit too early to suggest that our "D" has turned the corner. NW offense was riddled with injuries and Michigans offense yesterday was playing like our defense at the start of the season. No focus, & no effort. Our last three opponents appear to have better running attacks than did Michigan. So, IF we get past MSU, then I'm more willing to believe that our "D" is starting to turn the corner.

It's also unfortunate that Beck has abandoned the "hurry up" offense. That worked to our advantage. I understand why he dropped it (rookie qb and all), but that would be of extra benefit against a solid defensive team like MSU.
