30 years ago, Bruce Lee's son Brandon Lee was tragically killed in real-life on the set of The Crow in a prop gun accident with similarities to Halyna Hutchins being shot by Alec Baldwin on the set of Rust.

Now The Crow is being remade, this time starring Bill Skarsgard and FKA Twigs, and will be released on Friday, June 7, 2024 Friday, August 23, 2024. Trailer:

Eh who knows... but I heard Bill mention that he was excited along with the director about remaking this for MODERN audiences... ugh... so if this is a giant wokefest I'd be annoyed.

Yikes, 23% on Rotten Tomatoes, finished in 8th place at the box office on opening weekend, has earned less than half its production budget after 3 weeks.

I’ve never seen the original so I went in completely blind to who Eric and Shelly were in 1994, so with nothing to judge it based on I thought it was ok, maybe like a 6.5 out of 10. The dialogue was pretty clunky at times but I enjoyed the hell out of the final fight scene.

Seems to me the negative feedback from people online is they hate that this is the same character Brandon Lee played and no one can replace him so they shouldn’t even try.

Is this supposed to be a sequel? I figured it was just a reboot. Granted, I haven’t followed it that closely.

It’s a reboot but the fact that they’re using the same characters as the 1994 version(Eric and Shelly) is what made this dead on arrival.

Apparently fans of the Crow are super diehard and out of all the movies the original from 1994 is off limits because of what happened to Lee and so this one never stood a chance to begin with because it instantly started off with bad word of mouth. And it’s just an ok movie so they probably didn’t blow away the people who didn’t know of the original either.

The first Crow was a bit of a perfect storm. I'd imagine most fans of that movie didn't even bother.
