One day it will all make sense
Yikes: this movie is currently at 10% on RottenTomatoes.
Just the casting choices alone felt like this would bomb

be on netfiix in an eye blink.Yeah, this should never have been made. I’m sure it’s not even an “it’s so bad, it’s good” type situation, it’s probably dog shit.
I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to watching it.
I think its somewhere around 9 million domestic, 9 million international, and 9% on rotten tomatoes.
How on earth did someone think this was a good idea?
I am not sure the IP has ANY broad appeal to the masses. While it was a successful game franchise, it always struck me as a very niche market.Yikes: this movie is currently at 10% on RottenTomatoes.
The actual product also doesn't have any appeal to people who like the IPI am not sure the IP has ANY broad appeal to the masses. While it was a successful franchise, it always struck me as a very niche market.
Fair point. I only finished one of the games (years ago, so I don’t even remember which one), so I have no attachment to the lore. But if the producers don’t respect the lore, AND the concept is niche to begin with, than who is your target demo? The actual product also doesn't have any appeal to people who like the IP
Again, not a huge Borderlands game wonk, but I always got the sense the game was pretty thick in “camp”. I don’t think holding on to that aspect was necessarily a bad move.Haven't watched the movie but seems like they went campy/goofy rather than the direction I'd have went with it. Would have also went with Handsome Jack as the villain.
Had they taken a more serious tone (and not included Tina as a semi main character) I think it could've had more legs.

Or animated material. It is but that works better in a video game format.
Or animated material.
Point taken.
Though, Deadpool is pretty heavy camp, and it is one of the most successful franchise in cinematic history.
I am speaking abstractly. I have never been interested in seeing this movie, and never even watched any of the trailers. As I said, I begrudgingly finished one of the games, and while it was fun (enough), it wasn’t near good enough to grab me for future versions.Ryan Reynolds. Kevin Hart is just wildly mis cast. Dude is tiny in RL. Come on.

I am simply aware that Hart is in this movie. I don’t know what character he plays or how “Cruise as Reacher” his casting is.
Well…Roland and Kevin Hart could not be more different save for the fact they're both black lol.
Just seems really difficult to capture the essence of any video game or book in one 2 hour movie.Haven't watched the movie but seems like they went campy/goofy rather than the direction I'd have went with it. Would have also went with Handsome Jack as the villain.

I wonder how long the very concept of “movies” will continue to exist. Doing 6-10 episode “seasons” (I am beginning to like the British term “series” better in this context) seems to be a better format.Just seems really difficult to capture the essence of any video game or book in one 2 hour movie.
I wish they had gone with a series format.
I agree with this 90% of the time but Borderlands could totally be done in a 2 hour movie.Just seems really difficult to capture the essence of any video game or book in one 2 hour movie.
