Video game adaptations (Arcane, Castlevania, Fallout, Five Nights at Freddy's, Halo, The Last of Us, Mario, Mortal Kombat, Pokémon, Resident Evil, Sonic, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, The Witcher, etc.) are the current trend in Hollywood, so we're getting a Borderlands movie on Friday, August 9, 2024, starring Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black (who voiced Bowser in Mario).

Not a huge fan of the IP.

If it gets great word of mouth, maybe I will watch it when it gets to streaming.

Well for starters they don't seem to have Handsome Jack...which is pretty odd.

But yea Borderlands isn't everyone's cup of tea.

It looks like it is based on the first game, so makes sense no handsome Jack. I am more confused by including Tiny Tina as one of the core 4. Is Jamie Lee Curtis supposed to be Tannis? At least Kreig is a playable character.
I am unsure why you go with Lillith and Roland, but skip Brick and Mordecai.

It might take place before Handsome Jack, he wasn’t in Borderlands 1.

I like BL 1 and 2 but that’s it, not very interested in this either. Gearbox is a shell of their former self.

Yeah I don’t understand what timeline this is supposed to be, it’s all very confusing. I never thought this should be a movie anyway.

Just looking at this makes me think Borderlands has tons of Razzie potential.

Cate Blanchett is 20 years too old. Roland is a 'Rock' role and not a Hart role. The movie looks like its 5 years too late. The writing in BL3 was atrocious and bad in the presequel.

I couldn’t even finish BL3 and I have probably over 1,000 hours in BL1 and BL2 combined.

I finished BL3. Put about 60 hours in it. I think the character I was using was slightly glitched so abilities didnt work right. Multiple characters got nerfed and IIRC no new characters added. Im not even sure BL3 had a professional writer.

Imo 2 > 1 > 3 > PreSequel. Its a decent series but 10x better co-op and my friends and I all had kids and 'grew up'

Yeah your ranking I agree with, that’s why I have so many hours in 1 and 2, introducing friends to it and playing it through all over again and we were pretty hardcore into getting “perfect” variations of guns, shields etc in 2…hours build up quick with farming.

The interesting thing about 2 is that it fleshed out the characters in 1 creating a universe. 3 did not do a good job with the characters from 2.

In a lot of ways BL1 is the strongest of the bunch but it probably needs a remake. It barely even had a story.

Yeah that’s a very valid point, most of the BL 2 characters were an afterthought in 3.

It was such a tremendous disappointment looking forward to BL3 for quite some time and then getting what we got. I had suspicions of quality before launch, and after playing it for a bit, my friends and I basically said, “Welp, we had a good BL run, it’s now over.”

Some of the QoL stuff in BL3 was good but that’s about the only thing they got right.

BL1 had a remaster-ish with the GOTY edition I believe but it was still the same game.

I don’t think I trust them to do a true remake anymore.

Bl3 has enormous split screen glitches with the x box s so the son and I are doing a ps5 playthrough now.

Yeah I enjoy pretty much everything about 2.

Even the DLC’s including the shorter headhunter packs were solid.
