The CFP committee has done as good of a job as they could through this short stint of the CFP. People bitched about the BCS, they will bitch about this, they will bitch about an 8 team playoff. Right now, this 4 team playoff is the best thing for college football. I'm sorry, if you don't win the games on your schedule, you will be left out.

Maybe it’s the idea of allowing a 4 loss team into the playoffs while making a two loss team sit out and turning all out of conference games into meaningless exhibition games is what he finds weak.

If you win your conference, you need to move on ... I have not seen a scenario in the last 10 years where I would have put Michigan in the playoffs (Western Michigan or Michigan State ... yes).

...and they need to do away with divisions and CCGs. That would greatly reduce the chance of a 5-7 division champ pulling an upset in the CCG to get in.

And? My belief has nothing to do with Michigan. I can understand the argument for 8 teams but if you aren’t in the top 8 as a conference champion you really don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.

Oregon dropped 8 spots because the reality is they never should have been 6th with their resume in the first place. Penn St, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Baylor all had better resumes than Oregon prior to last week. It was simply a correction. The same is currently true for Utah and Bama. Neither should be ranked ahead of the other P5 1 loss teams

Not at all ... with 130ish Division One Teams ... Eight is not unreasonable ... I think it's the perfect #!! The last game could be the weak before the Super Bowl!!!
there are WAY more than 130 D1 teams, i think you mean FBS :D

8 is not needed when most years finding a deserving 4th is hard enough. If you are not good enough to pop the bubble into 4th maybe you should try for 1 or 2 instead of relying on hope and prayers.

What do they always say in the UFC, never let it go to the judges/score cards go for the KO.

If when we have 5 undefeated and great SOS P5 teams we can cross that bridge/road when we get there thus far the odds of that are slim to nil.

to be fair, I think the coach put him in a position to fail.

By letting him start a D1 football game.

In Oregons case they can be forgiven for the early loss to Auburn. Teams are allowed to get better. But you can't lose to and unranked team this late in the season.
To me you can't lose at all in the last 4 weeks and still be considered for #1 even if you played and lost to a team in the top 5. You lost and showed you aren't as good as them so it's stupid to still keep that losing team in the mix. So the loser of a conferences championship game should be out especially if your conference plays a cupcake in the second to last weekend of the season.

I get your arguments ... and they are good valid points, but I just happen to think differently ...If you win a P5 Conference Championship, you deserve to move on. IMHO

There are exactly 130 Division One NCAA Football Teams (I was just guessing before). I agree do let it go to the judges, win the P5 Conference Championship.

So we were both right on the numbers ... Yes, FBS!!!
