BOSTON (CBS) — The Boston Celtics have reportedly signed free agent forward Amir Johnson.

The deal is reportedly for two years and $24 million.

The 6-foot-9, 240-pound Johnson is a solid player, and at 28 is entering his prime. He has been in the NBA for 10 years, splitting his time between the Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors, averaging 7.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He’s a good defender that will do the dirty work in the paint, something the Celtics lacked last season.

Johnson averaged 9.3 points on 57 percent shooting and 6.1 rebounds per game last season for Toronto, starting 72 of the 75 games he appeared in. He also has a bit of touch from downtown, hitting 41 percent of his shots from three-point range.

The Celtics also reportedly agreed to re-sign forward Jonas Jerebko, who averaged 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for Boston after being acquired from the Pistons at the trade deadline.

You know the rebuild is going in the right direction when you are signing multiple Pistons throw-offs:L

Amir Johnson plays hard and is efficient. He will fit great in a Stevens team.

Yes, he is a good 4th or 5th option, or coming off the bench. But he is now on team of 4th or 5th options and guys who are good off the bench. Celtics need some players, not more fillers
