Brooklyn may be taking the approach that one season of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving is more valuable than anything they could possibly get in return for them.

Obviously anything is possible, but the other 29 teams (and their fans) may want to take a similar approach that those two will be in Brooklyn for the 2022-23 season...

I agree and think they should be favorites to come out the East if they keep KD and Kyrie. All they need right now is a backup PG and backup C for cheap

It is evident that respected veterans Patty Mills and T.J. Warren don't give a rat's ass about Kyrie and KD's drama and are focused on playing basketball in Brooklyn next season.

Yep. Already said KD ain't leaving and since LA ain't really stepping up for Kyrie those two might just say whelp let's try again. Why not? They are buds still. Maybe Simmons helps. No more vax issue. Etc.

Feels like they will both stay, the drama was just 'oh shit we got pantsed in the first round' trade me. Cooler heads are asserting.

Brooklyn is smartly asking for ridiculous stuff for KD (Edwards AND KAT AND 4 firsts), in case someone does something stupid.

That ridiculous ask of Minny was before they overpaid for Gobert, which likely pushed UP their perceived value of KD.

Assuming "cooler heads" when discussing Kyrie is dangerous at best.

Sure. Still looks like they both are staying.

I don't see where anything with Durant is changing from his perspective.
Of course you don't. It affects the Lakers negatively if KD stays and convinces Kyrie to run it back one more year. Which looks increasingly likely.

What do the Lakers have to do with it? While there are rumors of Kyrie being willing to stay, there are no such rumors about Durant.

Too many highly paid head cases on that team. If somehow management can keep them together it might not be a bad team. Lotta ifs but IF Simmons actually wants to play his defense would be a big plus and he wouldn't be needed to provide that much offense with KD and Kyrie. Kyrie is going to be on a contract year so maybe he's on his best behavior.

Yeah, that's the thing with this stuff. The narratives, rumors, etc. all have changed a couple of times and it wouldn't surprise me if they changed again a couple more times.
It's literally what the offseason is about

First shots are fired ('trade me'), then the phones light up, the players talk, maybe the deals aren't there, and maybe KD or whoever realizes ok it's not happening but let's try to make it work. Doesn't always but often it does. It went that way with Kobe somewhere around 2008.

KD has been silent on the matter, so any expectation of a change in course is just conjecture at this point.

With Kobe, I imagine he woke up screaming in the middle of the night, realizing he was actually considering volunteering to be a Clipper, lol.
