Lowry was really dialed in and never faltered.

Congrats to Lowry on his win. I believe this was his first ever major win as well.

Nice to see an Irishman win there. It was a pretty boring event though, especially today.

Congrats Shane Lowry...2019 Open Champion!

I was smoking some wings, and had it on in the back ground with music going...the weather pretty much ensured Lowry was going to win...not many red numbers on the day, the high ball hitters had no shot.

Fleetwood, had a chance early to give Lowry some thoughts about a battle, but eventually he gave way and it was mostly Lowry and his caddie surviving the weather...something he looked built to do with his ball flight. Kinda boring journey even though he had to hit from the cabbage several times coming in...best man and the last man standing...Shane Lowry.

Talk about mailing it in for Koepka...JB Holmes battled to break 90...87...a lot of that was wind and hi ball hitters, but JB was awful.

Gotta agree. I was thinking the same thing yesterday. The most boring Major I can remember.

Yep. Went from 10 under to 6 over in 18 holes. he quit, but I knew he would choke; just not that badly.

He sucked...no way around it. He started the day 6 shots back and ending roughly 16 shots back...I guess you can say he choked away some money, but he was never going to win the championship.

No. He doesn't have what it takes to win a Major.

Ya know, I kinda agree...but I said the same thing about Sergio...in fact I think Sergio thought his days for winning a major were over and he bags a Masters.

Interesting that JB is not a guy many in the golf media really felt would win many majors in spite of his length.

2019 British Open Championship final results: Prize money payout and leaderboard

& it cost him a fortune. He received $25k for finishing T-67. Finishing anywhere in the top 10 would have netted him considerably more $$. Perhaps he doesn't care about money or just can't handle the pressure.

JB has cashed over $25 mil in career earnings so he should be okay, but I think the Sunday major pressure, high wind on Sunday and the high ball flight we not a good combination.

Even though it is the most prestigious of the Majors I think The Masters is the easiest to win. Smallest field, same course every time etc

Lowry's dominant performance made it boring.
Not just that, the ball bouncing all over the place and playing balls sideways out of the bunker and the gorse just makes it kind of silly.

Not that it would make it the easiest, but I wonder which one has the most 1st time winners?

I think course knowledge is such a big deal at AN, some players catch on quick, such as Spieth or Willett. Kaymer tried to change his fade into a draw in his prime to win there and screwed himself up. Others like Ernie played well, but just got beat by a better score. If you struggle moving the ball left AN is a hard track...Phil used to draw the ball, only won the Masters when he went to the fade.

I think the PGA is the easiest.

I heard that the reason that Augusta National favors a draw is because that was the ball flight Bobby Jones used and he designed the course to suit his game.
I think the U.S. Open might be the easiest. There are a hell of a lot of scrubs who have won the U.S. Open and never were heard of again. When a tournament is set up so that par is the winning score that puts a whole lot of guys in contention since they can all shoot that.
As for Augusta, it has the smallest field and, as you said, you can learn the course because its the same one every year.
