I actually have come to appreciate his game more. The first thing is he is a team player and far less selfish then Kobe ever was. I think Kobe was the better shooter and pure but LeBron does all of the other things constently. I still think his decision to leave Cleveland the first time was handled poorly,. but I have had some young 23 year old men in my home now and have also learned there is no such thing as a mature adult at that age...so he had some maturing to do

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm not looking to get anything started. But if you look at the numbers LeBron has a better FG%* & even a better 3 pt. %*. And LeBron has hit a better % of game winning shots*.

* = career #'s for both through 15 full seasons

I totally agree about his decision to go to Miami. It's not about him leaving, it was how he handled it. Hell I can't blame him. He's a kid from Akron that spent his first 7 years in the league right up the road from his hometown. Those 4 years with the Heat was like a kid going to college for 4 years.

Kobe. As everyone knows in the NBA threads I'm 100% Celtics. So not really liking the Lakers is natural. I respect their history though. Just as any real Lakers fans should always have a dislike of the Celtics. But man I did enjoy watching Kobe in his prime. He was just incredible. Mamba's gone, but he'll never be forgotten.

Not to change the subject but one thing I'm a little jealous of about the Lakers is they probably have the best starting 5 of all time. And I might catch some flack for this but my Lakers all time starting 5 doesn't have LeBron on it. By no fault of his own he's yet to make the playoffs wearing the Purple 'n Gold.

Once LeBron gets to the playoffs with LA you can replace Worthy with him.

That's pretty much the best five players ever except MJ. Being a little generous with Shaq and Kobe there.

No doubt that would be a tough team to beat. This group might give them a good game.

Isiah 'zeke' Thomas
MJ
Bird
Duncan
Olajuwon

I'd put Curry over Isaiah, and since the Lakers get to play Kareem at PF put Wilt in there instead of Duncan. Also replace Bird with KD

There are many things I like better about LeBron...I told you that more or less, but Kobe won the all defensive team honor just about every year. If either player would have had better players around them at the same time, the finals would have been absolutely thrilling. Kobe was the best closer in the NBA and a pure shooter. His weakness was that he had to take a lot of shots in order to keep his numbers up, but he was deferred to for a lot of impossible shots, and in the first Olympics together both LeBron and Wade deferred to Kobe. Lebron war more athletic and stronger though

Except it wasn't. Before they played I recall many thinking Toronto and/or the Cs would knock off the Cavs in 2017 and 2018. More the Cs than Toronto.
Lebron made the playoffs 8 straight years once he left the cavs.

and while he definitely owes Lebron a ton for his success here, the idea he pandered to him is absurd. He would rip Lebron in film sessions and he ripped him at the half of Game 7 and told him to get his ass in the game.

Yeah, he just didn't have any sort of reputation going in. If he were a well known coach or player, he'd be treated like a god right now.

Um, he only played with another team for 4. Until now, and he hasn't made the playoffs in LA (yet)

It would feel wrong to put LeBron on an all time Lakers starting 5 list. Hasn't been there long enough and he'll always be thought of as a Cav first by most people.

Would it be crazy to make Wilt first team? I don't think so. You could also just go twin towers and start him with Kareem. However, that lineup probably wouldn't work if there is a three point line and you are facing an all time team with good 3 point shooters.

Good call on Steph.

I'm biased obviously, but Curry has just got something that is beyond what point guards had before him.

I think the Dubs win in a nixed season. They get a nice draft pick and next year they are at full strength again.

A line up of Curry-Thompson-Wiggins-Green-Chriss/FA/Rookie is close to, if not the best in the west. That team can win a ring again.

The only issue is could Steph guard Magic? There's no question Isiah 'zeke' Thomas played him tough.

He would do fine on the perimeter, but yeah, there would have to be a plan if Magic tried to post him up.

I agree with that.

LeBron could win not one, not two, but five titles as a Laker, and I would still think of him as a Cav first and foremost.
