Home opener for the Jackets, who have a lot of eyes on them a whole lot to prove. One of the better teams down the stretch last year, they missed the playoffs by one illegal shootout move by a team of dirty rat fuckers. A move to the East, a goalie with potential and now some hardware, and two highly touted rookies.

What will this year hold? Hard to tell. But t's gonna be damn interesting.

Jackets lineup:
Boom - Dubi - Gabby
Atkinson - RyJo - Scut Farkus
Test Tube - Anisimov - Comeau
Umby - MacStonehands - Fo-LEEN-O

Sucks - Prout
Nikitin - Savard/Erixon
Murray - Wiz

Nationwide has been a house of horrors for the Flames - Not even a wacko Flames fan phoning in a bomb threat could get Calgary a win. It could be a long long night for the team in white.

Karri Ramo didn't impress me very much last night. If I were the Flames I would go with Joey MacDonald in net tonight.

Pretty sure that will be the plan especially since the Flames are playing on back-to-back nights.

Seems like a sound decision but one has to question the logic of starting a goalie who hasn't played in the NHL since 2009 against a highly potent offense such as the Capitals. You would think they would've started MacDonald against the Capitala & Ramo against the Blue Jackets. But what's done is done. Could be a good thing for the Flames, I expect them to tighten up defensively against the Blue Jackets. Still tho, I expect the Blue Jackets to prevail 3-2. Should be a good game.

Sounds like little Timmy will be in popcorn row tonight...

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline 3s #CBJ D Tim Erixon the last blue-liner off the ice this morning, suggesting he'll be the odd man out tonight vs #Flames. David Savard in.

Could mean Tyutin is ready to go too with Savard as an 8th. It's been borderline for him, but Richards kept saying he wouldn't rule Fedor out.

Tyutin is a considerable upgrade over both of them.

Also, Jack Nicklaus is dropping the ceremonial first puck and Brandon Dubinski is taking the ceremonial faceoff.

I think he will be named captain before long.

Dubinski I mean. I bet Nicklaus can't even skate.

I'm not sure a golfing great sends the right message to a hockey team on opening night (lol)

Hey 43 Give me the lowdown on Jenner please. How did this kid go from good prospect to 1st liner?

Quite simply - Worked his ass off. He came to camp in game shape, went out and did everything the coaching staff asked of him and agreed to move from Center to the left side. He goes into corners, he goes to the net, and he stands up for his teammates.

And there was instant chemistry with Dubinski. That was a big help.

Don't know how long he'll stay there, but he's got the wheels to keep up and if he keeps space open for Gaborik, he should hang out a while. I was expecting a third line/Second PP role and then seeing how he fit when Horton comes back. Really didn't expect first line, although at rookie camp you could see he was a big step above everyone but Murray.

I missed it, but reports are Sean Monahan just scored his first NHL goal - Also, the Flames PK is terrible.

Joey Mac kicks out a gargantuan rebound and the Jackets make him pay.

2-2

Yeah, not the rookie I wanted to see get his first :yahoo:. He drove the net with his head up and stick down. Wiz let him have a free hand and he poked in a rebound.

Flames are tenacious. Both goals they flat out created by getting right in the Jackets' faces and beating them to the puck.

Jackets PP looks like they've actually practiced it. "But that whole Skate up the left side and drop the puck to the winger waiting at the blue line" entry is going to get noticed by some coaches.

Clipping? I haven't heard that called since the 80's.

Good period. I like seeing two teams with lots of heart going at it.

Oh, and it has been decided that Boone's nickname is "Jennerator". I like that better than Boom. Supposedly what he was called in Oshawa.

Hey 43, RyJo looks like he's really bulked up - I don't remember him being that big last season.

No goals so far this period, but plenty of pond hockey - Bobrovsky is looking good between the pipes.
