Nelson says Nash could have been like Curry.

But Curry isn't that great of a passer. There's so many more PGs, and big men, who are better passers than him. Better vision; less turnovers; better at halfcourt assists.

So, I wouldn't have wanted Nash to be like Curry. That would have sucked.

There's fourteens things I'd rather do than watch Curry pass.

I can't think of many things I'd rather do then watch Nash pass.

Plus, his teams were among the greatest in offensive efficiency in history. It's hard to be much better than that.

His teams shortcomings were because of other roster decisions. Or, the Spurs were just better.

Westbrook has averaged 10 assists per game the past 3 seasons.

He is averaging 7.7 so far this season.

Can he get to 9? 10? His team needs to win more as well.

Jokic was a baller with 16 assists. Too bad I missed the game. I don't know if I've seen a PF or C with that many assists before, when watching.

LeBron James being the exception, since he can play any of four positions.

Lowry is leading the league in assists.

I did not see that coming.

He's been in the league for so long, and didn't show this ability before.

He also only played 3 games in preseason, and there wasn't an indicator there either.

I'm not going to say he didn't play well last year. The Raptors had the # 1 seed, and the coach changed the offense to have it run through DeRozan more. Since the Raptors had the # 1 seed, then it means that Lowry and DeRozan were playing well, regardless of what it may appear based on the stats.

But good to see him and Leonard clicking so quickly.

Actually, Lowry's assists last year were only 0.1 lower than the previous year, despite playing 5.2 less minutes. It's his scoring that went down.

Which means that even if the ball was in DeRozan's hands more, Lowry was still facilitating the offense the same, perhaps even more (since his assists per 36 minutes were higher).

Mitchell at a loss after rare 35-shot, 0-assist night

Someone on the radio a few weeks ago jokingly called him Carmelo Mitchell because he was 11- 32 or something, but he had 4-7 assists, too.

I didn’t know the stat about how infrequent someone had 35 shots with no assists, but I was going to dock him in the MVP rankings by saying that I wouldn’t give many points for anyone who has no assists and shoots almost 33% from the field even if they score 31 points. The exception would be if there was a clutch play.

Yes, I’m going to try to catch up on that MVP rankings.

He's contrite and disappointed.

That counts for something.

Bryant wouldn't have been. Neither would Anthony or Walker.

The Jazz finished with 30 assists, the seventh time they have had at least 30 this season. Ricky Rubio led the way with 10 assists. Utah is 27-0 dating back to Nov. 26, 2008, when getting 30 or more assists at home.

7 this year? That’s good that we have more this year... but only 20 from 2008-2017?

It almost makes it seem as if some of those Deron WIlliams teams had high Williams assists, but low team assists.

He was our team for awhile. Boozer helped. Okur, too. But we got more than some realize. Our “team” was better because of him.

Kirilenko was a good passer too.

Maybe 30 is an arbitrarily too high benchmark. Maybe if you changed it to 28, there would be a lot more.

I'm surprised you didn't post about Jokic's game, as he had 14 rebounds and 15 assists on New Year's Day.

In this recent stretch, Draymond Green has a 51 assist to 6 turnover ratio.

I wonder how many players in NBA history have had that kind of a stretch of A/T.

I doubt very many.

Did you see Jokic's interview on TNT yesterday?

One of his teammates revealed that his nickname is "Big Honey", during a live Tweet.

Jokic was not happy that it got out. He told the crew to just call him Joker.

Jokic also said that he was disappointed that Shaq didn't show much excitement, and praised Barkley for being excited for him.

Jokic also said he was surprised that no other big other than Wilt has had these many triple doubles. He said he thought Shaq had some more triple doubles.

It looks like Shaq only has 2 triple doubles.

I'm surprised that he didn't have more, with either blocks or assists.

Kind of like with Duncan, some games it makes it very easy to pass to cutters or open shooters, and rack up the assists. Or blocks.

Duncan has 8 triple doubles, 4 in the playoffs.

Wilt has 78.

Jokic has 24, 8 this year.

24 years ago today, John Stockton became the all-time assist leader. I was at that game. They handed out a certificate to the fans as they left the stadium.
