Dwayne Bacon beats No. 12 Virginia!!!

FSU usually isn't a one-man show, but I'll take it. UVa did a good job of shutting down the rest of the team.

Big East?

According to kenpom, Wake would be the #6 team in the BE. Depends on how many teams the BE gets in, I guess. Wake gave Xavier all they wanted on the road a few weeks ago. Probably win that game if Collins doesn't play the worst game in his college career. Could've, should've, would've doesn't work in sports, though.

Big Ten would be a good shout out as well. They have 7 top 50 teams right now, and none of them are Maryland.

Just saying more so if you're basing it on a loss at home to Clemson.

You are gonna to lose a lot of games playing all those BE teams twice as well.

Wake might get in just pointing out don't think it's any easier.

I think it would be tough to get into the NCAA Tournament in the Big East (somewhat backtracking from my original stance here), but with round robin schedule, you'll get all of those teams at home. I think that makes things a tad easier. In comparison, Wake doesn't get a home game against FSU, UVA, ND and VT this year. Not taking anything away from the Big East, as I believe they have great depth, but the ACC from team #1 to team #11 is insane right now.

I'm also not basing anything off the home loss to Clemson. I'm basing it more off of the games I've watched them play against major opponents, as well as their efficiency rankings.

Either way, you'll have to finish games in both conferences. Wake Forest hasn't the shown the ability to do that in their games against Northwestern, Xavier, FSU (Was a close ball game until the 8:00 mark when FSU went on a ridiculous 17-0 run) and Clemson this year.

lol, not for me!

Seriously think Wake would have a great chance at making the NCAA's this year in any other conference.

If anything, today's events make me think less of the power of the ACC, if only slightly so.

I mean, if VT, FSU, and GaTech beat the top dogs this year, what makes you think Wake can't do the same?

FSU and VT are very good basketball teams. FSU is ranked nationally @ #20 and ranked #17 in kenpom.

VT is ranked #32 in kenpom. The ACC is a very deep league.

GT over UNC was a headscratcher. GT is pretty bad.

I think VT and FSU are a step ahead of Wake, but to answer your question:

Wake Forest is a cursed basketball program. I would also like to believe that the ACC isn't as powerful as originally thought, but I just don't see it. We'll see, though.

Forsure I get what you're saying. But with the ACC you can have an unbalanced schedule. Maybe you get Duke at home like VT today and that's the only time you get them.

In the BE if you blow your chance at home vs a team you have to now beat that same team on the road. That's where he depth is killer, you're now playing just about every game vs quality teams.

DePaul and SHJ could be likely sweeps for tourney type teams. But Nova/Creighton are also just as likely sweeps the other way. So, unless you can sweep on of the other 6 similar teams it's 9-9 at best

Definitely agree with your first paragraph. Would like to say that we play Duke twice every year. Duke and NCSU are Wake's permanent rivals, meaning we play them twice every year.

Agreed with your second paragraph as well. BE and Big 12 are my favorite conferences because they play the round robin schedule, which is ideal for CBB. ACC played that schedule for many years before expansion. Its really tough to compare a 14-15 team conference with unbalanced schedules to a 10 team conference. When I made my original statement, I was actually thinking about the other 14-15 team conferences. After you quoted me, I had to do some more research on the Big East this year.

If Wake was in the Big East, I would think 9-9/10-8 would be the ceiling. I think that would be good enough to get into the NCAA's, especially with how Manning like to shape up his OOC schedule.

I just hate the ACC right now. Not because its tough, but because its a 15 team supermess.

Really looking forward to UNC at Clemson tonight. Much like Indiana, if UNC plans to repeat as ACC regular season champs, they must get this game.
