I think this win and the win at Wake has awoken this team. It is also inevitable that you will lose a game (like SJU) when you shouldn't. It happens every year, still leaves you scratching you head but it happens. I did however expect this to be a much higher scoring game.

Is Syracuse's ncaa ban over?

Eek. I'm pretty sure that was a one year ban only. But you have me thinking though....I'll have to take another look at that. And on that note.....Boeheim just passed Calhoun on the number of D1 wins.....again.

Also...here's a pix that to me explains why Cameron Indoor is the best place of all to play college hoops. I wish they would let the tournament go to these smaller places. It's damn magical.

I'm f'n jealous. You guys got it going on.

Honestly I am not sure about the ban. I thought it was but then again I am off of my game. I'm glad Boeheim passed Calhoun, can't stand that lunatic!

Is that a picture of you? If so you are one lucky SOB!

Jim Boeheim, Syracuse basketball hit hard by NCAA sanctions

The NCAA announced Friday that Boeheim, the Orange coach for the last 39 seasons, would be suspended nine conference games next year and see 108 wins vacated from his record for his part in overseeing a basketball program that committed numerous violations over a decade. Both the football and men’s basketball programs were placed on five-years’ probation after the multi-year probe, but basketball was featured most prominently in the 94-page report as Boeheim’s improprieties were singled out.
“Over the course of a decade, Syracuse University did not control and monitor its athletics programs,” the NCAA said in a statement, “and its head men’s basketball coach failed to monitor his program.”
The infractions panel listed academic misconduct, extra benefits for players and the failure to follow drug test policy among the pockmarks. There was also impermissible booster activity discovered under Boeheim’s watch.
The report said the school’s former director of basketball operations sent emails from student-athletes’ accounts to professors, attaching course work in an effort to keep players eligible.
“Improper institutional involvement and influence in a student’s academic work in order to gain or maintain eligibility is a violation of NCAA rules and a violation of the most fundamental core values of the NCAA and higher education,” the committee wrote. “The behavior in this case, which placed the desire to achieve success on the basketball court over academic integrity, demonstrated clearly misplaced institutional priorities.”
Boeheim said he was “deeply disappointed” with the NCAA ruling.
Syracuse previously self-imposed a ban on participating in the NCAA Tournament this season, and school chancellor Kent Syverud noted that the university may appeal parts of the ruling.

No...that is one of the Syracuse Post Standard sports writers and is a pix from one of today's articles on the game.

I posted it cause I love how tight the gym is....with the student section getting front row seating. Pitt is like that too. Just awesome.

that was written March 2015 so I would assume that self imposed ban would be this year.

Syracuse self imposed the ban last year...prior to the NCAA announcing their final findings and they accepted last years ban self imposed ban as meeting that particular requirement.

That's why SU didn't win the ACC last year. :-)

Thanks....

What gives me hope for this year is this team has played better under JB....preseason and since JB's return after serving out his suspension. He seems to have them playing much better D then Hopkins did. Holding Wake and Duke to these types of lows will win you some games.

But I've watched them all season. Like last night....Plumlee ate them alive as will teams with an inside presence. Roberson with SU was a beast, but he was not the beast plumlee was. But Duke didn't shoot well from outside, and SU did shoot well from outside and that was the difference.

Next game they'll shoot 22% from three with Cooney going 0 -15 from beyond the arc and 2 -10 inside. He's one of the most inconsistent shooters starting today.

But maybe with JB being back they'll keep focusing on D and they'll be playing well in March. I can hope.

hate to rail on the kids, but I won't be too sad to see Devin Thomas and Codi Miller-McIntyre graduate.

SU fly's out this morning for an evening game with the cav's. Shit. SU can't beat them at home with a day to rest.

This would be an even sweeter win than the the other day at Duke....if they can pull it off.

Yeah, but the Big XII only has ten members. 80% of their schools are in the Top 50. That is amazing.

There is no doubt that the ACC is a tough league, but the Big XII right now is 1970s-mid 1990s holy shit ACC tough.

I still can't believe we pulled that one out. I stopped paying attention to the game with two minutes left because I thought that Wake had it all wrapped up.

Just a huge shot for UVA. Starting 4-4 in league play would have put them in serious jeopardy of not getting a double bye in the ACC Tournament, which they still might not get as is. UVA vs. Louisville looms LARGE this weekend. Huge swing game in the standings.

Tough result for Wake, but hopefully this fixes UVa's woes on the road.

I've grown to really like Bennett and UVA, ever since Wake's program was destroyed. Have pulled for them to win the ACC the past few years and will definitely pull for them again this year
