I am sure Dame would also be dealt. He wouldn't be too happy if Giannis isn't there.
True. Don't think he's worth as much as Giannis at this point though.

Expiring deals, a 1st and a few 2nd rounders.

I didn't say a number one pick doesn't often help, it just isn't that much more important than any top 5 pick, which the worst record is guaranteed. Those teams that have shown significant improvement have all either had multiple high picks or significant trades around their picks, or both. Go back deeper in history and you will note more of it not always leading to great improvement.I think recent results at #1 say otherwise.
Minnesota, Detroit, Orlando and SA both had the highest odds (and were at worst 2nd worst record) and have improved significantly in the past 5 years since their #1 overall picks. Hawks last year got really lucky, but also not so much in a down year for top end talent.
Pels have been all over the place with Zion's injuries and the AD trade, but they were a better team that got lucky (Grizz got lucky too that year and ended up with Ja). Suns have been a playoff team but not because of Ayton. Nets famously bombed with Fultz. Sixers and Simmons, enough said.

To be clear, I am not actually pro or anti lottery. I just don't think that getting rid of it necessarily makes anything better. The problem is you need lottery luck multiple years

You don't really need lottery luck multiple years because even if you don't have it (as the Pistons haven't) you are still guaranteed a high pick if you were a really bad team.
I have 2 main gripes about the lottery. The first is that it just invites more conspiracy theory bullshit. Because of the Donaghy scandal and the fact that even before that happened, there were people saying the league used refs to influence outcomes.
Then along comes the lottery and now we have people saying the league rigs the lottery because, since it's a lottery, everything is done behind closed doors.
The other issue I have is that it hasn't fixed the "tanking problem" that never really was a problem because it seems that most fans are good with their team tanking 2-4ish years to get better draft picks.
The play in tournament has helped a little, imo. But even with that, teams still try to tank, it's just that as soon as they figure out that they're unlikely to finish in the bottom 5...they start trying to win again.
Nothing to argue with here from me.I have 2 main gripes about the lottery. The first is that it just invites more conspiracy theory bullshit. Because of the Donaghy scandal and the fact that even before that happened, there were people saying the league used refs to influence outcomes.

The lottery odds used to be more flat so teams didn’t have to tank so hard
Teams also had to make the playoffs to make money since we didn’t have the tv and internet booms that made people think David stern was competent
And you call yourself a message board expert.Nothing to argue with here from me.
No, no, no! I'm no 'Cane - lolAnd you call yourself a message board expert.
Jimmer retired. One of the best scorers from a non-NBA level of all-time
One of the most exciting college basketball players ever too especially considering his size
