If you're not going to get the top prospects to the neediest teams, start contracting teams. We know that won't happen, so nix the lottery.
In the age of free agency the ability to trade and sign free agents far eclipses the value of early picks with the caveat that those early picks have trade value. Really, look at how many #1 picks have won a championship for the teams that drafted them. And those teams at the bottom are generally there because they have terrible GMs, which a #1 pick won't help. You'd be better off making a rule that if you finish bottom 5 for 3 years in a row you must fire your GM.

That usually works itself out, unless they're intentionally tanking for an extended period (likely because they didn't secure that #1 overall pick).

which isn't much of a consolation when you lose out on someone like Wemby

Which is why the lottery is stupid

You get people fired and extended for no reason other than ping pong balls

They don’t even need the draft

Give teams salary slots for signing roomies with their draft picks

Totally exempt from the salary cap like draft pick slots already are and let teams pick

If a guy wants to take 2m instead of 10m from the team with 1-1 money that’s his prerogative

Cleveland got 3 #1 picks in 4 years and still sucked until LeBron chose to do a second stint there. The #1 is not a guarantee of anything.

Hell, Jordan went #3.

Tonight is a reminder of why I hate watching Trae Young play basketball. He is so obsessed with going out of his way to draw ridiculous fouls with these unnatural shooting motion
The new asst GM of my Alma maters basketball team lol
